This possible? - boot order

I've got an older 4979-ish bios with the boot order something like this:-

f:\apps\xbmc\default.xbe
f:\apps\evox\default.xbe
c:\xboxdash.xbe

Meaning I could completely keep c and e clean. Been looking at the docs for the latest 50* bios files, doesn't seem possible to have a boot order on different drives, or with the number of characters as above?

I'm truly amazed at the amount of people that seriously believe that everything can be fixed over night... Hereby I urge everyone to buy a book on C++(for example) and try it yourselves. Or am I way off here? No disrespect intended, just trying to make people appreciate the work behind this kinda stuff.

Given the clear advantages of this new BIOS series, I have simply adapted to its (small) shortcomings for the time being.

I'll be pleased when this feature is back, though.

In due time my friend just for now take it easy. what advantage does having the otherdashes on the E and F do anyway??? Why dont you just put everything on C or F and use it that way? I have all my stuff on C and it all works just fine. While i use the new onee.. I patiently wait for the team to release the next release....I'm sure they are working hard to add features and fix the cosmetic bugs....:Frowns ass ugly Xbox logo shows on the screen and LED goes blank: do it for the Xbox's guys cosmetics are good they are really.

I think you might have crossed the line a tad. Its a good point but lots of people dont have patients. While it is unjustified your average joe doesnt know the work it takes. Being a perl and java programer my self i know the time and effort that goes into it. I do agree with you but you seem angry in your post. The people are acting like they pay for the bios. I think they could use a gentle reminder that what they have was free and didnt cost anything and that Xecuter did not even have to release 5028 they could have stook with 4983.

on an asside i noticed my posts are going down i dont know why i hope im not breaking a rule im just trying to help. so Xecuter if im doing something wrong please pm me and let me know so i can stop. :goes to fourm rules starts to read: hmm i probably just posted in the wrong area like a dofus

in my opinion... the only clear advanatge this new bios has over the old ones is the fact it supports 1.6 xbox's thats the only major advanatge... but for 1.0-1.5 xbox owners (like me) it aint nothing real good when compared to previous bios's like X2.4981... only thing it has is that it loads up settings from a .ini file etc ... this can be a benefit but in certain cases it can be a draw back... but i have learned to deal with it overall... but i still have my old customized X2.4981 bios on my chip for a backup just in case anything funny turns up with the X2.5028 ;) ... but so far so good.

p.s. to mikester18 ... your signature looks awfully damn similar to mine lol ... it's obvious u copied me... o well, i dont mind ;)

I don't think that I crossed any line. By stating that I didn't mean any disrespect, people shouldn't take offence. Even though they maybe should... You see a lot of demands here, and we're not in a position to demand, only to kindly ask. Now the 5030 Beta is out, so the 'prayers have been answered' so to say.

While I agree people should have some patience when waiting for updates I disagree when you say people should remember its free, I feel that in buying a xecuter mod chip updates in functionality should be expected. I am pleased to say that I have not been dissapointed in this regard, Xecuter updates are excellent in my opinion and I also think its incredibly generous of them to make them compatible with other mods, unlike some.

Demanding? Nope, I was just asking if I'd missed something. Christ, you should work with producers and publishers in a games company...

But cheers to the guys!

added: now can add full paths to dashboards in x2config.ini (e.g. c:dashes\evox\evoxdash.xbe), 255 chars max

Will be trying this tonight! =)

comments like this really annoy me

if parsing an ini is the "only" thing it can do and it has draw backs - make your own bios.

sorry no. you are totally and absolutley wrong.

the xecuter chip is designed to work on all bios's - we dont HAVE to release any bios at all - that is nothing to do with what you paid for. you buy the hardware not the software.

do you see smartxx or xodus or alladin bios's ??

enough said I think.

Fair enough, although supporting the products is usual, anyway its besides the point as you do release bios's , so thank you. Also it was a major factor in me deciding what chip to buy, Alladin and smartxx might not release bios's which is part of the reason I'd never buy one.

You just don't get it do you? How are the other teams that don't make a bios supporting their products? When you buy a hard drive, do you expect the hard drive manufacturer to "support" their drive by giving you software to put on it? I wouldn't think so. Bottom line is, you are buying the chip, NOT the bios.

And as I said, no disrespect intended. I can admitt that the tone was harsh, but it wasn't meant like that. As for the demanding bit, I wasn't referring to you. Ok? :)

Thats like saying if I buy a gfx card I shouldn't expect driver updates or firmware updates for a dvd writer. As for teams that dont support their products I think thats a disgrace and they shouldn't be in business. But if people are daft enough to buy them I suppose you cant blame them.

you are thinking about all this COMPLETELY wrong - its not that kind of business

an ati radeon firmware update isnt illegal is it ?

we support the product with technical support not software.

the software side of things is fun for us - we dont have to do jack.

th only time we have to do anything is when your hardware stops working - until then enjoy these free bios's for all users of all modchips.

im sorry, i dont mean to p*ss you off or anything ;) ... i was just stateing my "opinion" about it... cause it's pretty much true to sum it up what i said though ... cause it's clearly obvious the bios's "main" attraction is 1.6 xbox support (which is the only BIG advanatge it has over other bios's like iND-BiOS) with the "Xecuter" brand name on it which means quality... (this aint a bad thing ;) ) ... then .ini support is probably it's second attraction and then the slight cosmetic changes etc ... plus it's just "the latest and greatest" ... so that right there will make alot of people upgrade for those who like fooling around with the bios's etc etc.

dont get me wrong... im getting to like the newer bios's (X2.5031) more and more as i use it though... cause controlling bios settings through a ini file has it's advanatges ;) ... and im learning to deal with that extra 2-3 second pause for it to load the ini file from the hard drive. ... plus i appreciate that you guys put back in the booting from multiple partitions on the xbox's hard drive in your new bios's ... thanks.

it just depends on what type of person you are if u will like the older style or newer style bios's better, so please dont get upset when i make these comments cause im not flameing anyone, im just stateing my opinion ... cause i know some people on xbox-scene forums that dont care for the extra 2-3 second pause in order to load from the ini file... but you cant please everyone so DONT let it bother you man ;) ... just keep up the good work cause it's clearly obvious your work is appreciated by ALOT of people... so dont let my comments bother you ;)

only reason i generally recommend bios's like X2.4981/X2.4983 , is mainly cause it's "time tested" so everyone KNOWS it's stable/reliable etc ... but im sure with your recent release of X2.5031 that might change.

just my thoughts ;)

Now even I get pissed off! If you have to learn to deal with a 2-3 second pause, you're clearly not seeing the big picture. I wouldn't trade this Bios for anything short of the almighty x3. I've never experienced a more stable and safe Bios than this for the gen2-chips. But go ahead and use the iND-Bios if you don't think the x2 lives up to the hype you created.

For this I might get a warning, or perhaps even a ban. At the end of the day it might prove to be worth it though...
