My original drive has been making a racket for a while now when I try and play burned games. Here recently I started getting a dirty disk error more often than now. So, I went and purchased a Hitachi drive as a replacement but the spoofing bit.... actually, it is trying to get the drive key, is driving me nuts.

Ok.... I tried using both XBM and iPrep. Every time I go and try to snag the orig.bin file, all it does is sit there and do nothing.

I unplugged every drive with the exception of the MS 25 (powered by the xbox) and the USB drive which was created by XBM and iPrep.

I have tried both Xtreme52 and iextreme 1.0 fw and they both do squat. After selecting the Xtreme drive (master) all it does is sit there and do nothing. I don't have the original as it was a friend who I am no longer in contact with that did the flashing for me.

Anyone??? I am about to the point where I am ready and willing to ship off the original drive to someone who can get the key for me.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I have tried every tutorial I can find on the subject but no one seems to be addressing my problem. *sigh*

The only thing I can think of that I might be doing wrong is that my rig recognizes the drive only by selecting Dual something or other (I am at work now) in the IDE device list. I read something about that it will work only if using the SCSI device.

*dunno*

The motherboard I am using is a Asus P5LD2.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What sata chipset do you have?

Does this drive currently have Xtreme firmware on it? If so, you will need to use the enable 0800 disc or the bad flash method.

Caster.

Yeh.... the drive currently has *A* hacked firmware, but TBH... I dont know which. I believe it has the iextreme1.0 but I could be wrong.

As for the chipset... this is the info on newegg on my motherboard....

Model
Brand ASUS
Model P5LD2
Supported CPU
CPU Socket Type LGA 775
CPU Type Core 2 Extreme / Core 2 Duo / Pentium EE / Pentium

South Bridge Intel ICH7R

Hopefully that gives you some info on the board... I'm new at modding so I've never really had a reason to look at my sata chipset before. :D

Many thanks for your help on this caster!

Re: This Samsung MS 25 drive is going to be the death of me

As caster420 said you need to use either the 0800 disc or the bad flash method. But the bad flash method only works with VIA chipsets so you'll need to burn the 0800 disc and use that to disable Firmguard so you can read from the drive. There are instructions on doing this in Textbook's tutorial --> Samsung section --> Upgrading.

Re: This Samsung MS 25 drive is going to be the death of me

*sigh*

ok, the Hitachi Drive is visible in XP. I have a movie in and can play the movie as if it was a regular everyday drive.

BUT, the light is not blinking and it does not take 2 button pushes to open the drive. I am confused. lol

Thanks to you guys I was able to recover the drive key but now when using Toolbox 3.0 I get an error saying that it cannot communicate with the drive for the flash.

help?
