Not only that, but you can easily change how to boot to XeLL.

Not everyone wants to lose the eject button to boot, so you can have another two options, such as power on from a media remote's Guide button or Windows Media Player button, etc. You very rarely need XeLL once you have it working anyway.

Im sure that most of the nublets here (the reason registrations are closed is because of those people) couldnt careless about losing boot function into NXE from eject. All they want is for FSD to load and games library to "SH0W5 C0D"

True, however there are those who didn't realise how much you can customise the JTAG/RGH image.

So because most 'noobs' are only wanting to boot to FSD to play their games, we should be recommending a limited GUI as the de facto tool? We're going to have to agree to disagree on that one!

Well I going to sell it like this:

Recommend a limited GUI System until they know what they are talking about... Most of them think they are "Pr0 M0DDAR5" cos they managed to open an xbox and flash a Benq Drive... I would much rather have Team Jungle (or someone who can update software) create a simple to use step by step GUI for the nublets and then that GUI actually tell them what is happening while they wait for the nand to dump.

Yes It wont allow you to customize your RGH image, but it would keep A LOT of noobs from screwing up their xbox's.... unless you want them to continue to do so...

i think this topic is beggining to become a little pointless. newbies will always risk messing their 360s up if they dont know what they are doing. I do believe this is why forum members use their time to post the very useful guides and tutorials, if people are not prepared to prep and learn a few things before messing with a 360 then im afraid they get whats coming to them.

Just to nbackup some others here I agree to not use JTAG tool. Not because it's noob friendly but because of the amount of problems listed in the forums from users using JTAG tool. +1 for Rogeros superb multibuilder tool. Always up to date and never given me a bad image or any problems whatsoever on the dozen or so consoles I've done. Messed with JTAG tool for the first build and won't go back to it now. Simple tutorials around to rea an write to nand using command lines and once you know how to read an wwrite nand that way you don't need anything else.

Also can't support a tool that is outdated by not supporting the new dash anyway.

I have jtagged and RGH'ed to many consoles to count now and have always perfered the command line tools (more reliable). Jtag Tool is a good GUI tool. It has alot of info in it and can be used for educational purposes, but I will never create an ecc image with it because I have never had one work that allowed me to conect to Xell through the network to get the cpu key. When I use multibuilder it works everytime.

If you are a noob take the time to learn the command line and you will never want to use a GUI interface again.

I did my JTAG with command line, I'll be doing the same with RGH.

I actually cheated a little bit and made a couple of .bat files, one for NAND dumping (I like to have around 4 dumps) and several for CR programming. A bit lazy, but it uses the command line and saves me typing it out every time.

I also added the all important PAUSE command in my .bat files so I can actually read any error messages. ;)

lol, it's not cheating - you're just making use of standard batch files :)

you could add '>> nand.log.txt' at the end of each command and output all info to the text file. that way you have a proper copy.

Thanks for the tip Martin, I didn't think of that!

I assume it just dumps the log into whatever folder i've got Nandpro in, correct?

To be fair jtag tool fails for a lot of people and a lot of different scenarios this is why we haven't done an official tutorial with it

I do know of a new app coming soon tho, Martin c is helping test / develop it

Stay tuned....

Yeah - another good hint is this:

Copy NANDPro into a permanent folder (if you've not already done so). Mine's stored in c:\NANDPRO.

Go into Windows System Settings and add C:\NANDPRO to you path in envrionment variables.

voila - you can now run nandpro.exe from any folder at command prompt and any logs will remain in that folder (as above).

No its not perfect. Ive had issues with it too, such as not letting you skip certain steps and such....

Its coded in .Net with just view windows. Ill be honest, its not the best program out there, but if you dont use a web browser and kill almost every other running process, then it should not give ecc build errors or nand read errors.

A program designed for NAND reading, should be made in C++ or C# with a simple GUI, JTAG tool uses too much memory cos of the images and such...

But in saying that its still a great contribution by coolshrimp and has helped many in the scene.

Still it has saved many a noobs from using the wrong CPU key, Wrong Nand, etc...
