okay, so as new as I am to the modding scene, I've gotten around some, and I've come across a few programs (dvdx2 & dvd2xbox - standards, i'm sure) that are obviously very nice. As a question though, what other applications are out there that are possibly just as helpful as the two mentioned above? So many apps on xbins are almost "code named." It's hard to tell what the app can do from the title of it. So to everyone reading this, post your favorites and what they do for you.

I used boxplorer (xbox file explorer) quite a bit before I switched to Avalaunch as my primary dash. I still kinda prefer it's interface vs Ava's file explorer.

UnleashX is, imho, the best dashboard. Yes, those two apps you mentioned are very standard, the best thing to do is dl everything you need, in moderation, and then download the apps you are in question over. They will usualy have a readme with them that will say what they are for. Are there any apps you are curious about specifically?

Yes! What a brilliant man! Although, if you watch alot of dvds you may want a better dvd program.

I like both avalaunch and unleashx, but I like avalaunch better because of its superior internet integration. Maby I just havn't found it yet in unleashx, but in avalauch, you can use its IRC client to go into #xbins, send the message, then use the avalauch built in FTP client to connect and download what you want, then use avalaunch to unzip the .zip files you download and copy them where you want them. I am lazy and I like being able to download stuff from my xbox instead of having to haul my ass out of bed every time I want to download something.

Yes I guess one thing I am interested about is emulators. I used to be big on that on the PC, but it all faded away. Can I put those same roms that I still have from all those years ago on my xbox with the emulator for the xbox and make it all work?

If I want to watch a DVD, I'll throw it into my DVD player ... BUT, I use XBMC as an MP3 jukebox, and for that it can't be beat :D

UnleashX will cycle through music and play it while idle.

avalaunch does too. Great feature. If XBMC automatically started playing my music I would probably use it as my dash, but it doesn't and I am too lazy to go into the source code and rig it up so it does automatically play music.
