Firstly, please excuse if this is both a stupid question and also if it doesn't belong in this catagory (please feel free to move it accordingly).

I'm considering flashing my xbox for the first time, but need some help. I have a Liteon Model Number: DG-16D2S with FW version 74850C - so I know as much that I'm going to have to use a use a PMT or CK Probe 3 method. I know to do this i'm going to have to buy a X360PRO USB as I can't really be doing with taking my computer apart as I fear I will never put it back together. Though I also came across the CK3 Lite/CK3 Pro 'mega deal' with that. I was wondering if the Lite version gives the same effect and works as well as the Pro version does - as it's about £10 cheaper - and also how easy it would be to use these to do the pogo mo thoin method to flash the drive?

Does anyone have any links to any tutorials/youtube videos on how to do this? And just out of interest, does anyone have any experience with the website http://www.ck3.co.uk, is it legitimate? If not, can anyone direct me to a website that sells the required items?

I don't know if any of this is neccesary, but I run Windows Vista.

Thanks again!

Guys if he is getting the X360USB Pro there is no need for the OP to go to the expense of buying the CK3 Pro

He only needs the CK3 Lite and will save a few GBP's...;)

Thank you for all the instant replies, they've all been so helpful!

Just to clarify, if I buy the lite version will I definately have to buy an external power adapter?

Right, so I think i'll end up buying the http://www.ck3.co.uk/product.php?productid=239&cat=5&page=1 bundle if this is the cheapest option I can find, although I don't really need unlock kit - good choice?

Thanks agian! :D

Right, now i'm both confused and feel like such a noob here! haha.

There seems to be completely mixed views here; some of you are saying the Pro while others are saying the Lite is enough as long as I'm using the USB Pro.

I certainly, like previously said, need to use the USB Pro. Thanks to dgenx, who pointed out the features of both, it seems the Lite is sufficient as long as I use the USB Pro as some of the features:

•Includes USB Cable
•BONUS FREE SATA Cable
•BONUS FREE XBOX 360 Phat Hard Drive Data Transfer Adapter

aren't required for using the X360 USB Pro, would I be correct to assume this? If not, could people point out the cables I would need if using the Lite.

Finally, like I asked, can anyone confirm if I need the external power adapter with the Lite/Pro, or can I just use the USB port for power/the xbox?

Thanks again!

This bit is if you don't have a spare molex.....the CK3 needs a molex connection to power it - you can't power your drive via USB this way

OK basically the pro has a USB outlet (which isn't required any more)

Both the Pro and Lite require an Molex supply (5v and 12v)

USB power id only 5v (Can't eject drive)

Molex is preferred power supply as using console causes lots of problems :)

Mel owns CK3.co.uk and he is a very nice chap, explain what you want and i'm sure he'll give you a good deal :)

That's a fair point right there! My only question is, by using the pro version do I stand more risk of making a fool of myself by doing something wrong/is it harder to use due to the size?
