hello.am gonna buy a new Toshiba Samsung DVD drive version ms25,i found one on ebay;but it says "as microsoft consoles require a key from your board for the drive to work you will need to flash the dvd drive with this key".
Whats up with that?Or can i just flash it normal or with bad flash method?
Am a neewbie you know.

You may want to start by reading;

Every xbox is paired to a DVD drive by a unique key. You cannot simply take another MS25 and plug it in. What the ebay post referred to was the fact that you will have had to extract your original firmware first, then get your original key out of the firmware. Once you have this you can make a new (hacked or original) firmware and flash it to your shiny new MS25 and it will work fine.......

Without that key though you are hosed

thanks vinomarky.ok so youre saying that i will have to extract the unique key out of the old dvd drive,right?and will it work because my old dvd drive has a laser problem but the drive does work though.cant i just flash the new dvd drive with the firmware version 5.2 with maybe bad flash method without extracting any key out of the old one? :roll: and also i have a pal xbox 360,it doesnt matter right?

Region doesnt matter. Flashing with v5.2 will not give you your unique drive key. You need to extract your drive key from your old drive (if you have a backup original, you can get it from there), which you should still be able to get from your drive, as a non-working laser does not effect your ability to read/flash the tsop. You could also simply replace the laser if that is the issue.

hi,just one more question.my old drive is flashed with version 5.2.can i still ectract the unique key from the drive?because when i flashed the drive first when i bought the xbox 360 consoll, id didnt extract any keys when i flashed it.i just flashed it with normal and i didnt save my original key , a mistake.and now the laser is bad.thats why am gonna buy a new drive,i have to be sure.i dont have the original unique key is there any hope for me?

hi,one more problem i have is that i also need the cable that goes fromt he laser to the pcb.when i buy a laser does it come with cables or anly the laser.i managed to destroy my laser cables
am i something or what?

Get a laser on ebay
Ask the sellert if it comes with cables

HI,the reason that the laser dont work is because i adjustet the dvd pot ohm,i adjustet lower than accepted so now the laser dont work.thats the only reason.i will say to everyone to not adjust the dvd pot,it not worth it ,you only destroy your laser.

Flashed samsung drive on my 360 and worked once, played copied game then put my 360 back togther and now the tray keeps on opening all the time & wen i conected my pc back to drive to reflash it, the pc will not detect it help help

you mean the tray opens up or you getting the open tray error?you might try the bad flash method.look in the download section.search for textbook tutorial.its all writen there.
