So my Drive looks to be all done . I have opened my 360 and played around with it but has finally died on me. Sorry if this question has been posted before I used the search and nothing helped me out so I will ask all he forum:
Here is what I want to do...
I want to buy another Toshiba/Samsung TS-H943A MS25 drive from llamma's but am lost with the process after I buy it. I think I have to flash some serial code but need to find out what it is I need to do. Is there a guide that will walk me step by step and tell me all the things I will need to get this thing going? Any help would be great and I thank you all for your time and answers in advance.

Not yet I still need to know how to do the whole process. I read the text book tut but it not to sure that is what I need to do. I would like to keep my original firmware (not modded) but buy another dvd drive, the same one I have which I have found

1) Follow the section in Textbook's tutorial for ms25 to create your bootable drive in iPrep. Then shut down and get your 360 connected to the PC as shown. You still want your dead drive in the 360 at this point.

2) Boot to DOS and run:

mtkflash r /m /sata orig.bin

This will dump the current firmware with drive key. Once the firmware dump is complete shut off the 360 and the PC and install the new drive into the 360. Then hook the 360 back to the PC like you just had it.

3) Boot to DOS and run:

mtkflash w /m /sata orig.bin

This will flash your unhacked firmware from the old drive to the new one. Once that's done shut down and unhook, put your 360 together and test it. Also back up the orig.bin file to a safe place so that you have your drive key in the future.

**This is all assuming you get the same drive model as you had...ms25 for ms25. Never flash orig.bin across different drive models/revisions.**

Thanx bigd23...That is some great info & help. I am off to order the drive now and will post results. After this is completed maybe I will graduate to the hacked firmware?
One more question-how do you back up this orig.bin file?
