Here's the deal. I modded my friends xbox with 2.6CE. It had X2 5032 on bank one and FlashBIOS 3.03 on bank two. Everything was perfect. :D Then he started playing and tried to load another bios through Evox and that trashed the flash. Wiped out both banks. I have tried to re-flash the chip with everything from 5032 to FlashBIOS 3.03 and other bios. Even tried hot swapping chip to flash and always get 'Flash not writeable' error messages. Anyway to re-flash this back to original state? Tring not to have to oder a programmer, but will if need be.

If the chip was totally wiped, what process were you using when you "tried to re-flash the chip with everything from 5032 to FlashBIOS 3.03 and other bios"?

Regarding the hot-swap flash, are you connecting the switches to the chip when you do the swap? If not the chip will not be enabled/powered.

The programmer is actually a good investment, especially if you'll be doing further mod installs. (Hey, you're friend boned the chip, have him fork out for the recovery.) Alternatively you could check out the install services (think that's the name) forum and see if there is someone local to you. My hunch is that generally the people doing many installs will have a programmer available for just this situation. I know I've got one.

Tried reflash using the hot swap,Dont think it would work because I was swaping X3 with X2 and yes the switch was pluged in an enabled. I have done over ten mods but all were with chips I bought and have backup BIOS. X3 and SmartXX and recently SpiderGX. The only other X2 chip I used was a X2Lite way back when. My first mistake was not editing evox.ini to remove the flash bios option. Just thought there may be a way around the problem without having to wait on programmer.

You can hot swap an X2.6 with an X3. They have the exact same install minus the Reset/Eject PCB. Make sure the switches are working properly.
