Hi,

Right now, I am like a chicken with out it's head. With so much info, I don't know where to start.

I am about to purchase my first Xbox Slim 4GB with Kinect (from newegg). And I want to mode my DVD player and I am not sure how or what to do.

My goal is to play burned DVD's and use my Xbox as an extender to watching TV (have a Ceton InfiniTV, built a gaming/HTPC system).

1. Should I update my Xbox when I get it?
2. Can someone post a link(s) to show me what I need to do? I will continue looking but I am overwhelmed with the info and can't find a EASY to understand step by step instructions.

THANK YOU!!!

I was stupid to update an unflashed Slim Lite-on from 9504 to the current 0225. And now JF won't even read the key anymore. Is there a probe that can read the key for this? Or is there going to be a new JF or firmware that will allow me to flash 0225 without having to buy a replacement PCB?

Thanks

you can still read the key with jf if you have a compatible chipset

you most likely do not if you cannot slimkey (VIA and nForce cannot slimkey)

you can flash locked 0272 drives without replacing the pcb, but it involves cutting and/or soldering of the board

its not easy

Thanks for the reply. So pretty much I'm screwed until another solution pops up eh? Do you guys think LT+ 2.0 will fix this problem?

its not a firmware issue

the slim pcbs are hardware locked

therefore you have modify the hardware in order to flash them
