v.1.6, x.2.6

ok, I had the lpc rebuilt and tried my system , i had a freg. so i grabbed the mother board to check the lpc build and one of the wires was caught underneath a mounting hook, i guess i can call it, and tore the trace off. i repaired it but i have no idea where i can put the wire now to complete the lpc rebuild.

The trace that tore was, if you were to look on the installation section for the 1.6's, theres a photo on how to rebuild the lpc with colored guide lines. its the red line showing where the wire is suppose to go. (right hand side, 4th from the bottom) does anyone here know of any suggestions hat i can do?

thank you.

Hi m8 i have done a couple of pics to see if they can help youi

1st pic lower side of mainboard
the main solid outline on the red wire is that the track you tore?

if so remove broken track but leave the bits of working track in tact(you will have to cut them with a craft knive
you will have to coat between the 2 dotted areas on the main broken track with clear nail varnish (not the dotted area to the upper right)then when its dry solder some very thin kynar between the 2 points then coat again to hold the wire in place

if its too badly damaged you will have to use a test meter to see where those points go to (the top point seems to branch off and up to the right and also goes through the pin header (see pic2) to the contact opposite the 4th pin up on the left

it also looks like it branches off to the right ( as seen in pic 2 ) but to make sure i would use a test meter and check to see if its a direct connection

maybe if the top track on pic 1 is in tact (the dotted area branching to the right between the red header point and the 3rd pin up) you could bypass from the point to the right of the red header pin to the lower red solder point.

you would be best off taking a picture of the damaged track and posting it here (make sure its not blurd m8)

thanks so much for the reply, the track that tore is actually the otherside of that dot point where the red line/wire was to be soldered. the line you outlines is still intact but with out the soldering point. I dont know if this makes a difference but im still looking at your pictures. again, thank you very much.

Not on this planet!
Hells bells mate what did you use to solder?

I would be inclined on getting that looked at by some one with a decent Iron, no offence but I think you would make the job worse as there is overheat and solder splashes all over.

hi m8 looking at your picture your solder points look like they need flux and reflowed, your wires are too long (thats what caused the problem in the 1st place) but dont mess on with them too much as you will loose the solder pads.

you need a 15 watt iron and a flux pen + use good solder with a resin core at this moment you are prob where you started (frag) due to the header pin solder points being badly soldered.

the track repair prob will work but you have missed a solder pad point which you need to take a wire to the other side of the board(hold it up to a strong light to see where it comes out at the other side (see pic with circle), your wire will need to be spot glued down with hotmelt glue(to stop the wire moving.
make sure the mod chip is disconnected before you reflow the header pins and clean any solder splashes.

best of luck m8....baz

ps get someone to look at it if you think its too far gone ,if you give your town out where you live you may get some help.
