Hi all, thanks for all the great info on the other posts. I have been unable to find another post w/ info on this topic so here goes-
Background:
-Installed pin header and chip (X3 CE chip on ver 1.1 motherboard w/ original HDD and Thompson DVD)
-Double checked and re-soldered all points on pin header
-Xbox boots to flashbios 3.0.1; also boots correctly to backup bios and bypasses mod to boot to original xbox MS bios
-Burned CD-RW (using Nero at slowest setting) with copy of 1959 BIOS (renamed bios.bin) and 100mg dummy file- disk was recognized just fine
-Flashed BIOS with external switch in on-on-off-off setting; BIOS flashed, box shut off
-On reboot get the on-off, on-off, FRAG routine
-re-checked all points; re-re-soldered all points
-banged head on dask
-re-re-re-soldered again
-after reading sticky regarding installation and points 13 and 14 I have come to question the continuity of my pins 13 and 14.
-I am assuming I have two places to look for errors at this point- either in my wiring (pins 13,14) or in the BIOS I flashed.
Questions:
1) Does anyone know where pins 13 and 14 go on the board? I would like to check continuity and, if I have destroyed the trace with all my re-soldering, hardwire the points.
2) 1959 BIOS file downloaded from usual source- size of downloaded file is 1.59MB; is this the correct file to be flashing (seems wrong since using the above switch config we are attempting to flash a 1MB BIOS slot?!)? I have downloaded a copy of the 1957 BIOS that is 1.0MB and will try flashing with that next- will keep this post updated w/ results. I know this part probably belongs in the BIOS thread- you can move it there if you like...
Thanks to any and all for their input on this and other posts; this is a great forum and has been instrumental in letting me get this far!
-Thanks!
