Transferring old PHAT JTAG data to CR4XL Slim Question

I am getting ready to install a CR4XL in a 250GB Slim console. My old PHAT JTAGged console failed on me a while back. I am ideally wanting to transfer the data that is currently on the PHAT's hard drive onto the Slim's drive. My question is whether there is a certain procedure that I need to go through in order to get everything transferred and recognized on the new console once the CR4 is installed. The actual procedure of transferring files isn't an issue. It's whether there is a specific sequence that I need to go through in order for the new console to recognize it. I thought I read somewhere a while back that I needed to do SOMETHING to the new console (after installing the CR4, of course) first before I even began the process of transferring the data.

Any ideas? Or is it really as simple as copying the files over from the PHAT's drive to the Slim's?

Take the drive out of your phat Xbox enclosure, put it in a usb2.0 enclosure extract data using usbxtaf on PC then ftp across to new drive

Or

Put old HDD in new Xbox 360 transfer all data to USB drive then copy to new drive

Not sure if Xbox will recognise drive from old Xbox if you plug it in with the usb2 enclosure

Sorry, for bad explanation
