http://www.teamxecuter.com/x3/tutorials/x3pin16.htm

i followed the steps on that page and i followed the picture in the sticky here for the pcb rebuild. i powered on the system and nothing happened. i removed the chip and the reset/eject adapter and the xbox booted fine. i put the chip back in, but not the reset/eject adapter and pressed the on button. the system came on, went off, came on, went off, then came on and started flashing green/red with no video. i turned off the system. removed the chip and it booted fine. i went back to check my steps and had skipped the step about soldering the 3 wire piece(hd led, lan led, d0 cable) i installed the d0 wire because i was lead to believe it was the only necessary one. the system wouldnt boot. i removed it and the chip and it booted fine. i installed all 3 wires and it wouldnt boot. i removed them and without the chip and reset/eject adapter the system comes on with red/green flashes and says 'needs service' with a 09 in the corner. is the xbox dead or is there still hope? and if there is hope please lead me in that direction. i searched forums and tried my hand in irc and now its 6am and im giving up for the night and posting this message. thanks.

what would help a lot would be a pic of the motherboard of a 1.6 with an x3 using the pcb rebuild. but any help is good enough.

the error code disappeared.

I had the same fragging on my xbox with the red and green leds.everybody said that it was bad soldering but it was not, since i checked the contacts with a multimeter.(you should try that)i solved the problem by opening up the xbox and took it apart but with the cables still connected i put my finger on the x3 chip(over the contacts from where the pins meets the x3-chip) and pressed it down on the lpc port and powered up and wips there it booted up with flashbios:)and i suggest u use the power eject/adapter.I dont know why u dont use it?and does it boot flashbios now?push booth the power and eject button.and reply to me as soon as you see this plz.good luck.

ill give that a try. the reason i had unplugged the adapter was just to see if it might be the adapter being the problem.

what do you have to say about the 3wire piece? for the leds and the d0?

Well out of the 3 the D0 is the most important wire. It wont let you boot out of theMS bios with out it connected. Make sure to use the standard av pack as well. I know when there is no av pack installed without a chip the box will frag.

i was misinformed i guess...i heard you didnt need to solder those wires in the first place...i wish there were a truly fail safe guide to installing this chip

if it is true, I will be really sad about the modding scene coming to an end.

I'll guess there will be another ban wave in September, when Halo Reach comes out
