Ive been working on this botched RGH for 3 days now and i need a little help.. I got my 2 nand reads, ( 1 bad block at 1C5) made ecc.. flashed successfully then soldered my coolrunner, booted to xell and read my cpu key. After that I flashed my nandflash.bin i made....

Then it all went downhill, I caught the wire that goes near R3B15 and took off the pad. After screwing around I eventually hit the R3B15 resistor with the iron and took that out... So, I soldered a 1/2W 33 ohm resistor to a short piece of wire and soldered from the trace to the right side of the resistor pad and my soldering (IMO) looks very good...

Now, every once in a while I can get it to boot and glitch but inevitably it goes E71 within a few seconds...most of the time just a red dot right away. Also It turns on by itself as soon as power is plugged in.... I really need some help getting this back to life...(If possible) Im pretty sure ill get some posts here saying to check my soldering but it really looks good  Im very noob here but can solder pretty well. Thanks

OK had this problem be4 myself you need those little pain in the but resistors or yes you will get that center red dot further more there is a tut on the forum for Alternate RGH Points HEREwith that said that resistor that you put on tat point might be to much so i recommend you either send it to some body for repair or try to work it out your self. Remember mistakes were meant to be made but its learning from them that matters:D Can you also post some pics of your solidering an the point that is messed up

Thx.. I solder the stdby_clk to the alt point and that is all good... I read on here that the big resistor is ok to use....how would i solder the little one if there really isnt a pad left?? :eek2:

This morning I soldered in a small surface mount 33 ohm resistor instead of the big one and still have the same results. When I plug in the 360 for the first time after it has sat for a while, i can turn it on with a remote, itll boot, glitch, enter dash, then Red dot... If i unplug and plug it back in right away it either turns on automatically or goes instant red light..... Any more help would be much appreciated... Ill try to get some pics when i get a better camera, mine always comes out blurry

I can also confirm that it boots to xell using the eject button.... but still goes red after 30 secs or so.... im thinking maybe there is a short somewhere... PICS to come shortly

Here are some pics of my soldering... I cut off a little piece from an old pc mobo to use for a resistor.. It meters out to 33 ohms... I now kinda regret putting all that hot glue on but If i need to I can carefully try to get it off....

I did recently boot to dash and had it stay up for a good 5-10mins before it went red (black screen)

Is there a reason you completely covered you STBY_CLK repair with that crap?

It really is a point of no return, as if the problem is with the repair, you can't get to it now.

You might consider sending this to someone to repair for you. As Martin C said, if the problem is under the glue then you in trouble. Once you start removing the glue, you will most likely pull up the resistors along with it. It doesn't take much. I removed on once just by scraping the area with my finger nail.......

Hot glue is fine to use, but don't cover the solder joint with it! If your soldering is that crap that you have to hold the joint together with glue, stop soldering.

Cover the solder joint with a little electrical tape. THEN hot glue the cable down if you like. Should you need to get to the joint again you can lift the tape.

if you're feeling bold, use a low wattage iron to melt the glue and hopefully you might be able to get to the solder joint enough to release the joint. Don't pull at it.

yeah im feelin bold..lol dont have much to lose at this point.. the solder to the trace (left) is very good.. so im not gonna mess with that yet....im gonna try to get at where the resistor was... ps.. do all the other points look ok and that resistor im using ok?
