Tip 1- ditch the EvoX BIOS, download X2CL 5035. This is the latest BIOS from Team Xecuter, is 1.6 compatible (use the 1.6 file, not "old") and has loads more features than the EvoX BIOS. You are actually posting to the forum that is the support area for this exact BIOS... posting here about the EvoX M8 BIOS is sort of like going into a Ford user group and asking about Chevy trucks.

Tip 2- make sure the file you are flashing is either 512KB or 1024KB. If you pull down 5035 you'll find that it is already 512KB. If it was the bare M8 BIOS that you were trying to flash you'll see that it is only 256KB. It would need to be doubled up to at least 512KB for a successful flash, else you'll get a FRAG on reboot.

Tip 3- FlashBIOS always starts writing at byte 1. If the file you are flashing is 512KB or less you will only be overwriting bank 1. Once flashed you'll need to switch to bank 1 to boot from this BIOS.

Curious, where did you get the idea to use the M8 BIOS? We see a lot of people coming to the Xecuter forums stating that they are trying to flash this BIOS. I'd like to find out who is still pointing people to this BIOS and why.

On a 1.6 Xbox it would not work, the X2CL series was the first BIOS that Team Xecuter had for the X2 chips that was 1.6 compatible. Check xbins again, I think the location is something along the lines of xbox\bios\xecuter\x2\multi\

Well, I ust ordered a 2.6 with the xapt3r solderless adapter :) and when they shipped it, they sent me a link to directions that I'm not allowed to redistribute. But down in the section where they talk about flashing a useful BIOS, they state:

mod-chip.com tutorial said:
Since it is illegal to sell/give you this software, you will have to seek it out on the web yourself. There are several different software programs out there (i.e. EVOX 2...etc.) to choose from (if you can find it). The most popular, the most reliable and is 256K in size is the EVOX 8 software. You can probably find it on the web by doing a Google search: "EvolustionX +download or m8_16.bin +download.
So, people reading this tutorial that don't know any better will think that they need the M8 BIOS...

The bad information is coming from the people who sell the product in the first place! :(

Ok now I got a new problem :S

I recived the Programmer today, I plugged the chip into the program then into the serial port, connected USB etc, it all works, 2 lights on the Programmer etc, BUT, the blue light doesnt come on on the actual Modchip... Any idea's?

I got 2 Red cables with the Programmer too but none of them fit into the chip...
