Trouble installing Xecuter 2.6 CE on v1.6b w/ xapt3r solderless adapter for v1.6

Installed the xapt3r for v1.6 on my v1.6b xbox mobo; all LED's on the adapter lite up - red, red, yellow, green, and blue.

Installed the xecuter 2.6 CE modchip, connected the 5v wire, and powered up. The xbox cycles power on, off, on, off, then stays powered up and I get FRAG. I connected the HD and DVD and hooked up the switch. I selected chip enabled, flash protected, and Bank 1.

With the chip enabled, I get the power cycle issue (on,off, on off), and then FRAG, and I get a blank screen (no bios flash screen). With the chip disabled, I get the normal green MS xbox boot, before it errors (FRAG) and there is an error code 06 in the upper left hand corner of the screen.

My question is how to troubleshoot the LED's on the xapt3r?
Why is the power cycling when the chip is mounted on the xapt3r?

I reseated the adapter, checked all the wire connections, reconnected the 5v wire, reseated the modchip, and still can not get either bank 1 or 2 to work.

The adapter has a blue light, as well the modchip has a blue light.

But I would like to know what color the LED's should be on the xapt3r solderless adapter?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for the link DJBOOBY to xapt3r install guide-

I unmounted the modchip from the xapt3r and rechecked the adapter. The LED's are displaying exactly as the pic in the link you sent; red, orange, yellow, green, and blue. I misread the second LED, and after a closer look, it does appear to be orange.

So after further research from the forum, I would safely bet that the adapter is functioning correctly, based on all LED's lighting up, and without the modchip installed, there is no power cycle issue.

But I still have an issue with the modchip power cycling, Fragging, and then going to a blank black screen once I place it on the adapter and boot up.

I installed the xecuter 2.6 CE to the xapt3r for v1.6 by connecting the switch connector to the modchip, and connecting the 5v connector to the modchip and then mounted the modchip to the solderless adapter.

My question still remains, as to why the modchip is power cycling? Does the sequence of power cycling On, Off, On, Off, and then steady On represent an error code? Is this a known issue, with a known fix? Is there another connection that needs to be made to the modchip?

The only option left open is the HD, DO, LAN connector on modchip, which needs the wires soldered onto mobo for the connector to plug into the modchip. I did not install.

Need help.....

Does the front light flash red and green on the third restart?

The adaptor takes care of the D0 point, so no need to mess around with that. If you have a multimeter, I would check the switches with it. Also make sure the switches are firmly plugged in.

fantamx I'm also having a very similar problem. I did what you said about the multimeter and all pins of the xpt3r (the ones that connect to the chip) have power, except the one on the southwest (when you have xbox power button facing you). I took the xapt3r out and same readings for those points.

I assume the xapter is making all correct contacts. If that's true, why i get 3 reboots and FRAG on the 3rd?

I was referring to the actual switch panel that goes on the front of the Xbox. I've had those cause a frag before beacuse the switches weren't making good contact. Try checking thsoe with a multimeter, and try flipping them a few times and pushing back in the black part of the switch lightly while changing positions.

You know what fanta? I think thats where the problem was. I got the chip booting but after I disconnected the little switch board it didn't boot. a little rocking on the chip and random attempts to boot and it booted. I closed the box vewy, vewy carefully, and it's working perfectly. But still I NEVER got the infamous orange light on the second led on the Xapt3r, only 2 reds, a yellow, a green and a blue. Well, at least is working and I can forward it to the happy customer...
