trouble with solder points

Hello,

I am having trouble getting the x3 install to work properly - I soldered everything - I have a 1.0 xbox - I am pretty sure something is up with the solder points on the lpc plug - After I first did the work, I had all the pre-flashed bioses working correctly - I then flashed the latest version of the x3 bios on, and now I get no video when powering up the xbox - I get video when I boot to the ms bios and when I boot to the backup bios, but nothing when I boot the flashed 1MB bios (no frag, just no video - the lights all seem correct). Is there anything I can do to test the install to see where the problem is? I am getting tired of shooting in the dark - I try to improve the solder points, then put everything together and then boot to see if it works - I have gone through this now many times and am hoping to get a clue where the problem lies, or at least a way to test without putting everything together - I've stared at the thing through a magnifying glass over and over and I just can't see anything wrong - I have access to a multimeter, but I just don't know what to look at to determine where the problem is. I'm not a good solderer, but I did manage to install several of the early bios updates with 29 solder points several years ago successfuly... I have read that I should check in particular pins 13 and 14 (which I have checked) - but is there anything else I should check given the behavior I am seeing?

Thanks for any help...

Hi,

Yeah, I saw that message - which is why I figured I could concentrate on pins 13 and 14 (which I have) - I just can't see anything wrong with them - so I was hoping there was a way to use a multimeter to measure them or something - to figure out which one was wrong or whatever. Is there another bios I could use that wouldn't be affected by these pins - or would they just screw everything else up anyway? I've been rechecking this crap for days now - its driving me nuts....

Thanks for the response....

HUH why take the 5 minutes it takes to search for the answer when you can type the question in and wait 6 hours for a response

You guys are too cool. I am very impressed by your vast knowledge of the responses that sit in your usage of your self proclaimed valuable time in taking the time to say I'm wasting your time. If you _think_ (and I do mean think, because I did do a fairly detailed search of this and forums on other boards) the response is already here, then let the faqs speak for themselves. Don't wank your already obviosly overblown egos by taking time to slam someone who asks a sincere question (this practice is probably what clogs up your boards), (and if you read my initial question, you will realize that I had already read the very post brought up in the first response as the "answer" to my question). You really don't need to take the time to respond to this unless your ego demands it. I'm done with this forum. I fixed my problem, absolutely no thanks to the two _extremely_ helpful posters who took the valuable time to respond to my question. I hope this thread is locked or deleted - as I know this is really not helpful to anyone else - but I had to wank my own ego and respond to the two asses that left their meaningless drivel in it.

Thanks to _most_ of the people on this forum - it was quite interesting, if not actually precisely appropo to my immediate problem. :D

Re: no signal

Ok get 2 cocktail sticks and place them in the back were the fans are to stop them spinning. Turn on and wait untill you got 2 red lights. This means the console has overheated.

Unplug the power lead and let it cool for 30 mins or so. Remember to remove the sticks from the back before powering up.

Power back up and you should have the console back to normal. This is only a temp fix.

If you know how to take apart a 360 then you should remove the GPU heatsink and attach an xclamp kit that can be bought off Ebay
