about 6 months ago i stalled the 2.6 ce chip on a 1.6 version xbox for a friend of mine

been working fine until recently
finally got ahold of it and looked at it last night, thinking that perhaps a solder point came loose or something but everything seems to be intact

when you try and power on the unit, the chip lights up, then everything shuts down in less than a second

if i switch the mod chip to "off" then it powers on and off 3 times then stays off

in both situations there is no video

does this sound like a solder issue or something else?
thanks in advance

oh one more thing that i noticed when i took a look
my buddy had opened it up himself and looked around in there

when i took a look i noticed that the fan was unplugged and a pin bent around a bit
rather certain the fan was plugged in back when i installed the chip and i would assume it'd have burnt up before now if the fan was not on this whole time, but feel its relevent to the situation to mention none-the-less

also, forgot to mention has a 120GB HDD installed using slayer's installer (have to check version later if anyone thinks its relevant)

The Xbox will turn itself off before it can be damaged by heat. Since it frags with the chip off, it sounds like there may be damage to the board.

I had to same problem too when my d0 point was improperly set. Try resetting this point if all else fails.

check that the wire going to the d0 is not shorting out (I had one where the wire was pinched by the screw holding the mother board in place .... this caused a frag with the chip off)

thx for the responses, i'll try messing with the d0 tonight and see how things turn out

you saying that sparked a memory, in that one of the wires was indeed pinched by a screw so hopefully thats the issue

thx
