Troubleshooting help needed

Hello all,

I am working in Baghdad, Iraq and decided to try out the xecuter3 chip on my XBox. I am a complete N00B to the XBox mod scene, but I have a background (albeit a few years back now) in electronics so I didn't figure I would need very much help. I was wrong.

For starters, the only Soldering iron I could dig up around here has a rather large spade tip on it and it was a challenge to get the points all soldered. I originally had trouble with the famous D0 but after finally getting that hooked in and checking continuity I still get the FRAG. The XBox seems to try to boot three times before the FRAG, until the FRAG it flashes amber and green. No video either. So I decided to admit defeat and check all my connections, what I am finding is that my LAD# connections are continuous with ground indicating (in my mind) a short...but three or more shorts? I am not an EE and am way out of practice to figure this one out...if anyone has documented the proper troubleshooting checkpoints/block diagram/anything more than what's on the install guides, please let me know!! I plan on ordering a better soldering iron and starting over from scratch when that arrives (usually a 2 week wait for anything shipped) but it would be nice to have some data to use in troubleshooting in the mean time.

Thanks in advance for any help with this.

First thing, you need TWO LED's lit on the X3 and the 'X' on the switch panel must be blue.

Without this, the chip isnt working properly. Check the soldering again, until you achieve this !!

Thanks for the reply, the two LEDs are lit, but the X comes up RED. I know it's not working correct, and I have read over and over to recheck the SOLDERING. But in the mean time of waiting for a better soldering iron I would like to collect data about the voltage levels and testpoints to ascertain the source of my problem.

Thanks again for the reply :)

I think I'm right in saying that you do may well need checking - without this the X3 wont arm.
