Truth on version 1.6b with x3

I was interested in buying the X3 for my box. I noticed this on the site the I was going to purchase it from " PLEASE NOTE THAT THE X3 WE CURRENTLY HAVE IN STOCK WILL WORK ON ALL VERSIONS EXCEPT THE 1.6B (MANUFACTURED IN SEP. 2004 TO PRESENT). YOU WILL NEED TO FLASH THESE IN ANOTHER BOX W/ CROMWELL 3.03 TO MAKE THEM WORK IN A 1.6B)". I am a little concerned now because my xbox falls between the date. Can anyone varify this. :cry: . Is their any work around? Thanks in advance for the replys.

From what i have read here, is that they have a working fix to this. Has nothing to do with the chip( so go ahead and order) it has to do with the X3 config version and bios version. If you DL the latest of both when you get your chip and install both up to date versions you should be fine.
This is what i have heard and read around but wait for one of the vetrans here to varify my claim.

No on the homepage is says there is a problem with the new flash bios for 1.6b. If I were you i would wait until more updates come up.

No, the chip will be useless unless you can hotswap with another xbox. The bios that comes with the x3 right now (3.0.0) will NOT work with 1.6b. As of now the only way to flash the chip at all is to put it in another xbox. My advice would be to wait until the new stock of x3s with the 3.0.3 bios on them is shipped out.

I think I will take your advice baseballer87. Seems like their is no clear answer as of yet. Im sure the executer team is aware of the problem and is on top of it. Im sure they will have somthing out shortly. Is there anyone out there that has a 1.6b with an X3 installed. If so, let me know the issues (if any). I really want to get my box up to speed :lol:

Yes, I have a 1.6b and my x3 chip is installed. I also do not have any other xboxes I can hotswap with. Which means, I am stuck until a programmer is released.

I have just purchased and X3 and have got a 1.6 Xbox ( sept 2004 manufacture date ).
I have installed the X3 and it does nothing? The blue light on the cip is on.. the front panel seems dead..I have doubled checked the soldering and connections and all looks ok..

Where do I go from here? :?:

I have several xboxes and I had no idea about this issue with the 1.6 and the x3 until now. I installed the x3 and had issues with my solder points but then the blue light comes on and the bios flash screen. I flahed it and the box trys to boot up 2 times then it comes back on with the flashing power light and no screen signal. I was confused... :( Then I joined up on the forum and seen this tread. I then opend a 1.0 box with the x3 plulled the chip out and took the chip I just flashed out of the 1.6 and put it in the 1.0 and it was flashed fine and worked. I then put the chip out of the 1.1 in the 1.6 and it showed the smae result of the try'n to turn on then just showing no signal. I am lost. What can I do if anything with the 1.6 box :?:

xquizitdjx - you are fine, you can swap your chip to get it working. Take the X3 you want to use in your 1.6b box and put it into your 1.0 box. Flash the X3 bios onto it, and get into X3CL. Now download Flashbios 3.03 (link on front page)
Extract and upload flashbios onto your xbox hdd (stick it wherever you want) Now in X3CL goto BIOS Tools -> Flash Backup Rom -> Load 256k Bios From (drive letter you uploaded flashbios too) then locate the bios.
It will ask you are you sure etc. so go yes :)

Now you can take the chip out of your 1.0 box, and put it into the 1.6b box. Boot to the backup rom (power+eject - switch turns purple) Now flash X3 bios with flashbios 3.03 and you should be good.


Too people wanting to order an X3 who have 1.6b boxes, i believe you can just explictly mention the fact you have a 1.6b box and you need flashbios v3.03 on your chip to the reseller, they should ship you one that has this, if they have them in stock or when they get them.

does activate.iso disc work only on 1.6 and above???......

i have FW for wave 3 i.e. GOW2,RE 5 games.....but no wave 4 FW games i.e. fifa10,codmw2,gta episodes........i have activate disc but it is not working......i have read in this forum http://www.se7ensins.com/forums/xbox-360-tutorials/151163-ixtreme-1-6-activate-iso-tutorial-pics.html
that activate only works on 1.6.......PLEASE HELP :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry:
