trying to flash, won't read bios off disc?

i tryed cdrw's and dvd's, all it does is get the name off the cd but won't read the bios.bin. Please help. Yes i unziped the new x3 bios and renamed it, used 120 meg dummy file, tryed it on 3 cd's, nothing showed up, i used the correct banks and even moved the switch on the chip, so it's not a flash protect thing.

Do you have the ability to flash over a network?

I know that doesn't help the current situation, but it is easier if you have the option.

One thing to try.. Make sure that you are burning your CDs at the lowest speed you can.

i have a laptop and a crossover cable, i guess i'm trying to that tonite, i left my original xbox HD at a friends house, he has cpu's galore, he was going to manually add a c:bios folder to it for me. I was under the assumtpion you had to have a dashboard or bios loaded to ftp, guess not. I still don't understand why the disc method won't work, i follwed it to a T. Yes slow, 4x for the rw and for the dvd-r. thanks for reply

Did you record the files into a XISO format, not a normal ISO ??
