Need help plz im trying to use the 10 sec trick with no avail. Im in the begging of the tut and trying to dump firmware. Im using the ntfs2dos cd method because the others dont work for me. It goes to 1% then finishes so i dont proceed. I end up having to boot into windows and keep deleting the incomplete backup firmware files. Anyone know a quicker way i can go around this instead having to boot windows and delete the firmware that wasnt complete?? And then trying the trick again?? Any help is greatly appreciated thank you.

What is the size of the ORIG.bin that is created? I'm just wondering if it has actually dumped your FW, but it just did it very quick. Do you see the finished screen like in the tut? Or does it just hang at 1%?

My ORIG.bin file is 256KB.

Although it's your original firmware so you wanna make sure you get it right.

Has it backed up your drive Key to a text file in the iPrep folder? Thats the most important bit.

try counting a couple of sec over 10 then try 15 and 20 seconds respectively and see how you get on.

it should dump fine, are you sure you are waiting long enough and have everything set right?

mine took about 1-2min to dump my orig.bin, and as oli said make sure it comes out 256kb.

good luck.

yeah ive been trying to do it 10 sec and under maybe i need to try waiting longer. Its just frustrating having to boot windows to delete the file that incorrect firmware file. And yeah it doesnt even count down. It just stays at 1% then completes and the files the incorrect size. Anyways i got all today to continue to try wish me luck. Thanks for the feedback u 2.

I had the same problem, with he same hardware as you and after trying for about 20 times I finally discovered that the right way was shorter time.

Once i selected the number of the drive in iPrep, i then turned the xbox on immediately (less than 2 seconds) and it took everytime.

this was my first time with an Xbox360, but I have hacked every concole and other things in the past.

Have to say once I bought the right VIA SATA controller off ebay (6421L) and figured out the iPrep and turn on delay it took an hour or so, but it was pretty easy looking back.

Good Luck
