is there a way to turn off the xbox with FlashFXP? i don't feel like running downstairs to turn it off

I cant remember if you can do it using the web interface in xbmc which you could use for ftp aswell ?
XBMC does support shutdown via web interface. However, I don't think anyone setup a command you could run through FTP to shutdown the xbox. Just get XBMC on there and you can FTP, play music remotely, do all kinds of other sh*t, and shutdown the xbox from any location in the world (literally).
also avalaunch, unleashx, and i think even evox have remote control applications for windows, so do your ftp with one of those, and run the remote access program to shut it down
