I'm sorry for posting this here but I honestly couldn't find a better place.

I have a HD with linux on it for you linux-is-the-answer people.

I want to make my xbox a web server that I can access through ftp from my other computers, from work, from school, from my friends house, you know, that whole deal. How would I go about doing it?
P.S. I want to be able to access all my partitions.

i dont think its possible to view all your partitions through linux. when you ftp in i think you only see stuff in the rootfs files. Which linux distro are you using? If using gentoox try their irc channel on irc.shallax.com #gentoox. You should find some guys there that could help you out.

Well, since linux takes up F:, and F: is crucial to my networking needs, It's gonna have to be an evox app. Any suggestions?

By evox app, I mean a plugin, script, or 3rd party application that would enable me to access my xbox from anywhere. Like an ftp server... Like xbins. You can get to xbins from anywhere. Thats what I mean. I want my xbox to be like that.

install avalaunch or any other dash that has an ftp server, change the password in the config, then forward the port to the xbox's internal ip on your router. then you should be able to see it from the outside, and you can see all the partitions. you won't NEED linux to do this either.

Thanks a lot for the good, quick answer. I'll give that a shot. My network has a sonicwall after the router so I'll ask my dad what he can do to make that work. Thanks.

Now that I think of it, it is a little sketchy. How do I forward the port? Through the router, or in the config file, or what? I'm sorry I'm being retarded. I'm gonna' take a class in networking as soon as possible.

Any router I've used has the ability to port forward. You'll have to set that up on your router. And probably the sonicwall (whatever that is)

Additionally you'll need a way of finding out your IP if it's dynamic. They're apt to change from time to time.

It's usually 7 at the end. It depends on which jack I plug into in m house since I have several, but you are correct.
