two accounts, HELP!!!

alright i got the 360 at xmas and have only played offline. Over the weekend i decided to signup for my free Live account. Of cource my original gamertag for live was taken so i picked another. Here is my question, how to i get my old tag to contain my new account info? I want to login under the new live account and have all my stuff from my offline account there. How do i do this???

you change the offline name to what you want your live name to be then signup otherwise youll lose all the achievments

btw u can only do that 3 times my advice to u if ur from the uk set up an american e-mail addy via hotmail so u can get all the goodies that we dont get in the uk.

didn't actually work. i deleted the live account and renamed my local login as the live account. i went to live market place and i had to recover my gamertag. result, i now have two accounts with the same gamertag. One on live and one local. I really would like to merge the two accounts so that my local saves and such don't go away. What do i do now????????
