Re: xbox cutting off power

Thanks! I'll try the screws and washers one more time, been trying it all night different combinations with no luck. The last box i did was successful.
Can you explain how to use the heat gun method? I might have to do that. Would a hair dryer be enough? That's all I got around the house.

A hair dryer defiantly would not supply enough heat...I mean you can try but I doubt it'd do anything at all. lol

There's a million tutorials on how to do the heat gun method, so I recommend checking on there, but I'll give you a quick rundown of what I do..

First I heat the bottom of the board on a low setting, just to evenly heat the board up, for a few minutes.. Then, I heat the top of the board on low as well. Then I turn the gun up to the high setting and heat up the GPU for about 15 seconds (don't hold it still! circles seems to work well). After that, just put the heat sinks back on and pray it works.

Seems to be working great for me. lol
I repair them as a side job, and my deal is, if the xbox red rings again down the road, or I can't fix it, I give them their money back. I won't lie, there have been some that I just can't fix with this method, but it works 80% of the time.

Yah the board looks a little warped as well where the fans are supposed to sit its kind of bunched up by the looks of it. Might also be a problem. I cant get it back to any power once I turn the system on anymore.
