Tx products TX DEMON SLIM and a coolrunner rev c

i think i made a mistake my heads spinning from reading all this info on the site im thinking now that i need to carry on with the create ecc and write it

and my cpu key comes much later after xell boots ? i think i need to read a bit more info and read the rgh thread sorry

for looking like i havent read anything ive just read too much and i need to sit back and re read again

a little while ago i started the thread http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=142989

and it concluded that i should buy a tx demon to read the nand as the spi in the southbridge was at fault

ok so i bought a tx demon and wow was some of the soldering points small on it hence why they say its mainly for pro installers .

anyway i watched keil423,s very informative videos i took my time and i managed a half decent job

i first tested the demon in pc mode while it was out of the xbox360 and it detected and wrote/read fine

then i installed it i then hooked it back to the pc whle installed and pressed read nand and it read it

i then noticed the cpu key was the cpu key off the one i had flashed to the tx demon so i toggled the nand and tried again with the same results

either option read the nand but threw me the same cpu key ( my other consoles test nand )

i then fired up demon tools which im aware does not work once my tx demon was updated to 1.4 i think it is

anyway i can get toolbox to work if i change the compatibility each time i start the program ( right click properties compatibility xp e.c.t.)

i then did a nand read and it was yet again the same old cpu key so i toggled over to demon in demon tools and it then read a nand but produced no cpu key at all when i loaded it in j runner

so this got me thinking is it possible soemone else had been messing with this console prior to me and messed something up ? or is it that my solderings no good ?

heres some pictures of the install to see if anyone notices anything wrong

ps i read the forums most of yesterday and found problems similar but not quite the same

any help will be greatly appreciated thanks

pps my coolrunner isnt installed yet as i just wanted to firstly get a sucessfull nand dump first

I don't see any issues here. You're getting good read and they're being validated.

The issue is you've gotten completely confused of what NAND is what and obviously you're struggling with the right one. If J-Runner is giving you a CPU key, it means the NAND and CPU key combo have been added to the J-Runner DB. It only does this (normally) when there's a match.

So on the basis that all NANDs are giving you a CPU key in J-Runner and you've NEVER booted this console to xell, you've f**ked up and not saved the NAND correctly.

You can still recover for RGH by writing a normal RGH2 ECC and booting Xell to get the PROPER CPU key from the console and building a donor NAND with it.

BTW - this information is all over the forum if you take the time to read the guides and stickys.

hi

it wasnt the fact the info wasnt there it was the fact that theres so much and i just got a bit confused

i know the infos all over the forum but thats how it sits in my head too unfortunatley ,

i seem to have it in some order thats why i edited my post

at first it wasnt dumping the nand from the xbox but after a few jrunner crashes a few pc restarts and brew

it did dump the nand and the confusion was i thought i should have seen the cpu key there .

then after getting my head out of it and just leaving the xbox for 20 mins

and another read of the forums from the rgh noob forum i realised that i shouldnt have the cpu key off the first nand read untill i

install the coolrunner and boot to xell .

so im in the process of installing the coolrunner which i programed with the trinity timing file

then whe i have the cpu key i then make the file to program the tx demon

i get it now i think

Correct when you boot xell, take a pic of cpu key (easier incase you make a mistake when typing it in), then input it into jrunner and write to nand :D

update stock from live, then dump the newly updated nands 2 more times with demon, then use those dumps to build a new rgh image for demon side and ur all set :)

my demon side already boots with the new dash i chose it in j runner after i downloaded the update also via jrunner

so i think i just have to update the stock side .

i should have put that in my post to be honest but i didnt think to mention it

thanks for your suggestion though

anytime u update ur stock side u should redump ur current nand and use it to update demon, the fact that you built the latest dash for rgh side is irrelevant.

read this guide by my buddy rdubbs here

Personally I'd just update using existing dump, especially if you have anything edited within the KV or SMC-Config that you'd need to reapply :)
the lockdown was patched out anyway was it not martin?so thats not necessary,i just prefer to do that.

cheers i will check that out ive just had a few probs with the red dot and hopefully sorted it now

i ended up switching the cr to phat which is weird as i have a phat rgh which works best with the cr set to slim and

a slim console with the cr set to phat now is the switch on backwards or something ? lol

The switch is fine.

Some consoles like the phat circuit better and others will work better using the slim circuit.

you will def find that consoles differ from board to board, not hugley, but its certainly there.for example, some consoles with demon installed will red dot on stock nand, maybe sometimes even still boot with a red dot, happens often on slims ,i find removing c8 from the coolrunner and setting it to phat works well to resolve that.the more consoles you do,the more of these little things you will pick up.
