TX POST QSB my time results

the way uber just explained it was not due so much from interference, but the actual timing used. were using a "one size fits all" timing glitch when in fact each slim is different.
that said, using shielding around the blue wire could only help. not a bad idea at all. i didnt order the qsb because i didnt think it would make one bit of difference. it just makes it easier to try dif lengths, not tweak the timing pulses or reduce noise

I may as well try it then as signal interference does play a factor or else routing wires about would have no effect ;)

Prob someone out there has already tried this but...Has any one used a cat5 cable with Twisted Pair Cabling on their TX POST QSB to try and cancel out some more signal Interference ?
http://janderson99.hubpages.com/hub/How-Does-Twisted-Pair-Cabling-Stop-Interference
Thinking of trying this out, But if somebody's already done it I won't bother.
Twisted pairs are shielded by being twisted together, this cuts down the interference. By stripping out the wires I should imagine they will be the same as any other wire.

 Who said anything about stripping wires out ?
And if you care to look at the link I posted it already has the info about twisted wires canceling out signal interference, So why in gods name would I untwist them :rolleyes2:

well the idea as i understand it, (without reading your link) is that an alternate pulse is sent through the pair so at any one point theres 0 potential difference. how do you intend to send 2 different signals? twisted pair is great but would be useless if the same signal is sent through both wires at the same time. just a thought, flame away gargoyle lol

I was thinking more the actual silver shielding cover around the cables tbh.

Since I separated the wires as much as possible and joined the 3v cable from the phat cables to my slim 3v cable, moved it away from the others I'm now getting amazing boot times

Only tried 50, 47 and 44 so far but booting between 5.7 and 11.0 seconds, every now and again 21 seconds but never higher than 30 seconds

Problem is going to be when I put it back together, the DVD drive will make it impossible to seperate the cables effectly

Going to try the other pads when I get home

I kinda skipped from start to finish of this thread so excuse me if the is a pointless post pmsl- one factor I've noticed when running tests on customers slims is power discharge.
i.e. If I boot consecutively, then I get really random boot times....
if I discharge the power - (turn off and leave for about 15-20 seconds) it boots a lot quicker - I know why this is, but it's worth noting when running your tests guys as powering on and off repeatedly will not neccessarily give accurate results

This factor was taken into consideration when carrying out the tests, and you are correct, which is why I'm looking into see If there is a way to power up the coolrunner only when you turn on the 360 rather than having a constant power to it. Any ideas let me know and I'll give it a try.

ive heard some people are using a switched 3v source to achieve that effect. personally since i have a seagate usb hdd, i HAVE to cycle that anyway to boot fsd so i just unplug the brick after im done with it. its a pain but will work til i get a 500gb internal.

I have used J2C3 - 2 as a switched power.

Note that some pro modders doesn't recommend using switched power. Apparently it can do some damage to your console if Coolrunner doenst get constant power.

Then again. Everything we do to our consoles is potentionally damaging.....:rolleyes2:

How's that been working for you? Any issues? Why would it damaged it, I can't see why it would. Wunder what would happen If we had a switch to turn the coolrunners 3v on or even use a switch with an external supply for the coolrunner? Some ideas to try I guess

i got mine today.

so i be tryin all points.if you add 8cm to the points then i be using 38 on the qsb,as my boot times are under 10secs,most of the time.and my wire is 45cm at the mo.

think ppl are forgetin to add that into it.

think of if you add 8cm to the 50 point, then that be 58cm.

but now i prob wrong on it but thats me thinkin.

the 50cm point includes the 8cm initial blue wire, so its 8 +42 in reality
