TX Unlock Kit V3, screwdriver won't fit?

Hello all, I don't usually post here, and I doubt this is the right section (I could find no section for the unlock kit support, which is understandable, it's a straightforward tool, apologies), anyway, I've gotten the 360 taken apart mostly, but I've run into an issue... The screwdriver I was sent with the kit (The one I'm assuming is the Torx 8.) is too small for the black screws that hold the heatsink and the RF board. The Torx 10 that came with it is too large, and I tried a T9 I had which is also too large. I'm thoroughly confused as to why it isn't fitting, I doubt there's a chance I was sent the wrong screwdriver, and I also highly doubt my Xbox 360 is the only one to not use Torx 8, so I'm stumped. I've no idea what to do now, it's very bothersome, I went elsewhere for help at first, but all I got was sarcasm and a suggestion to get a Torx 8.5 (Which doesn't even exist.) so I've come here. I'm using an official unlock kit ordered from Xconsoles.com I've been here scratching my head at it for over an hour and have finally given up confused... Please any help is appreciated! :)(It's an Elite Jasper 360 by the way.)

For the small black screws u need a torx 6.
Darn, really? :/ I had assumed the unlock kit would have everything I needed. The disassembly guide posted here even says it's a Torx 8. Also the problem is the Torx 8 is too small, are you sure it's a Torx 6? (I'm not arguing with you I'm just thoroughly confused)

I use a T8 for all the black screws you sure it's a t6? the hdd screws are T7 and those are even smaller than the black screws.

Haha, well, if it's a Torx 8 why doesn't the Torx 8 that comes with the unlock kit fit? It's too small, and I've no idea why. From my understanding the kit comes with a Torx 10 and a Torx 8, and two screwdrivers are present in my kit. The larger I know is a Torx 10 since it fit perfectly, but all of the screws requiring a Torx 8 are too large for the other screwdriver that came with the kit.

Was the console opened before and the heads rounded out a bit?

The console has been opened but the motherboard has never been removed to my knowledge. I had previously opened it to repair a faulty disk drive, but aside from that to my knowledge it has never been opened, and I had not touched the T8 screws at the time since there was no need for it to fix the disk drive. However this was a 360 I had bought off a friend (however he told me it has no history of RROD or any problems that would call for the motherboard to be removed. It's actually quite dusty in there from never being cleaned) so there's a small chance it might have in the past, but I do not believe so.

OK so you don't know , either way I have bought many T8 screwdrivers/ bits over time. They wear out or break. I bought some more expensive ones and they last a while. maybe just get a new one I'm sure it will fit fine could have just been a manufacturing defect on your is all. They are quite inexpensive. I know you want the one you just got to work, but that's between you and your re seller.

I'll test this screwdriver on my Slim console real quick to see if it's the screwdriver itself or the screws (They did seem wrong to me, much rounder than expected.)

Didn't fit on the Slim's screws either, looks like it's the screwdriver itself. Darn, was looking forward to my first RGH today, I'll buy a new torx 8 then I guess. Thanks for the help!

You can always contact Xconsoles and tell them about it, they will probably get you sorted for less than a new torx 8 or maybe even free. Anytime I've had an issue they've been helpful and straightened everything out.

Or, you can also redneck it and get out a really small bit flathead that fits into the star of the screws. Works perfect for me when I can't find my torx set
