man this thing is driving me nuts. i just got the xecuter3 in the other day and it came with no instructions so i printed up some an i found out the ones i printed up was not from my version. then i found out what version i had its the 1.6b. now im not sure if it will work for my xbox. when i go to boot up the xbox i press power the panel goes red and boots fine as if i did nothing to it. if i press eject it turns blue and nothing happens blank screen and drawer wont come out it sound like it tries but doesnt and also if i press both together it goes purple as it should but still blank screen and no eject. all it does is flash green around the eject a few times and goes orange. so if some could please help with some suggestions thanks so much.... P.S. im not good with alot of computer talk so please take it easy on me.. i guess u can call me a noob...lol :D

Required updates to play certain games.. any way to avoid?

I've been reading on other sites that newer games are forcing a dashboard update for the game to even be playable. This supposedly triggers the AP2.5 data on other games therefore making them unplayable unless they are fully patched and accurate back ups.

Problem that I have is that my console was banned long ago so I've never bothered to update the fw, I've just used a wave patching program to make all my back up discs wave 3 and compatible with the IX 1.5 (maybe 1.51) on my lite-on drive.

If I update fw, it'll make every other backup I have unplayable, so that's out of the question.

If I update the dashboard to make the newer games playable, it'll lock out the AP2.5 games like Black Ops, MW2 and AC:B, am I right?

If this is correct, does anyone know any way around all this so that I can play the newer games without locking out any AP2.5 games?

1. if you update to LT+, it won't make your games unplayable
2. yes
3. there isn't a way to "unpatch" ap2.5

First, thanks for you answer in the other thread.

Now, I thought that with the way LT version fw worked was such that, if, any of the disc data was tampered with (wave patching for example) that it wouldn't play the disc as a safeguard to preventing being banned.

LT will play anything

it is the exact opposite of what you think

So, LT+ won't black screen when the console is updated to the newest dashboard, it will play the newest games, and it WILL play all my old backups that were altered to wave 3 via a waves patcher before being burned?

If so, I'm in!
