hi all,

i know this mod has been done before but i am gonna put an xbox, ps2, gamecube and a n64 into a computer case and try and make it so they all use the same controller ports and stuff like that.

What i want to know is if anyone can point me in the right direction, post links to other people's attempts so that i can get a few ideas on how to go about it..

cheers... :) :) :)

right behind you
are you planning on all of them using the same psu? (not fun)
are they really going to use the same controller ports, b/c that would involve a lot of splicing and reattaching that could be avoided by just using different ports, and that way you wouldnt have to choose what controller you're going to use

I was thinking of something like that. Pretty cool. when you're done, tell me how you did it. I will have probably gotten my hands in deep by then. Definitely put up pictures.

Hey, since these are pretty simliar, would anyone know how to open up a gameboy and alter the programming? I was thinking of takeing out the screen and puting it in a little case and put it in a hole I'm going to make in my case. then puting like a pin or something so I can either even it out on the case or flip it up so someone standing in front of it could see the entire screen. then like, making a wedge on the side of the xbox to load game cartridges and either play them on the screen or store them into the xbox hdd. then either cuting out the bottom or top and adding a ps2 motherboard there and adding a little switch somewhere to switch between the ps2 and xbox. Oh yeah, and making a little gameboy controller with a transmitting LED on it and an IR receiver attatched to the case or whatever it's called. I am such a noob.

cheers everyone, i will post pics when i am done, i am gonna use this case (pic below), i know it is small but i will be able to fit everything in there i think.

about these controller ports, if I used all the original controller ports then i would end up having 14 ports on the case (GC=4, Xbox=4, ps2=2 and n64=4) which would just look silly so i am going to use usb ports for all the controllers (ps2 controllers will use 2 usb ports each because they use 10 wires, and the rest only use 5 wires each so usb will work..

I will probably have 2 of each controller modded with the usb ports at the end so other people can use these when playing multiplayer, i will also create a couple of adapters so my mates can use their controllers if they want...

any ideas or suggestions please say..

cheers

also, they arnt going to all use the same psu unless i can build it myself,

there will be 1 power input (1 socket on the rear of the case) but this will split up inside to power everything else.. also, to do this without blowing the fuse in the plug i will make it so that only 1 (or possibley 2) consoles can be on at the same time..

A guy named yoshi, from the screen savers on tech tv did it, but he is amazing when it comes to pc modding and stuff like that...

well the idea seems pretty cool but it also seems like a waste. If it were me i would get a ps2 and an xbox since the xbox can run n64 games and ps1 games. Image that with like 600 gb worth of harddrives. It would own but be so damn expensive

well i have now started it

first things first i am modding a samsung 616t drive so that it will be easy to fit into the computer case, i am also planning the brackets to hold the motherboards of the consoles in place.

the xbox mobo will be screwed to the actual casing itself and the ps2 mobo and the dreamcast mobo will be stacked beside it wihl enough room inbetween to keep everything cool..

i have the gamecube bit sorted and it will fit quite nicely underneath the drive bays with the disc drive mounted sideways above the dreamcast drive..

i have also modified the ps2 dvd drive to fit in a 5.25" drive bay but it dont look to pretty atm so i have to work out a bezel of some sort for it..

i'll post pics as soon as i find my camera :)

Phoenic: I know the insides of gameboy advances very well as I cracked open a faulty gbasp's screen to get the backlight device, and put it in front of my gba screen, wired it up to a switch in the style of the X2.3B Lite modchip, and also added led's to the sides of my transparent gba case so it lights up good.

I think that if you want a gba in your XBOX, you wouldn't need to alter the programming of the gba, just re-arrange its insides to fit as you want it in the XBOX. I would buy a can of compressed air though to dust the screen (even kitchen roll scratches the gba screen), put it in your XBOX as you wanted it, and make a sliding panel to slide over the gba screen to minimise dust buildup. When it needs a clean, use the can of compressed air: spray it for 2 seconds and it will be perfectly clean.

If you live in the UK, bring your GBA and your XBOX to me and I can do this for you in about 2 days. This would cost of course, (maybe £15-20) but it saves you the risk of messing up your XBOX and GBA 'cos I have modded both of these several times..even for my mates for profit.
