Splinter Cell: Blacklist won't be Sam Fisher's last hurrah, Ubisoft has confirmed - the company already has plans for a next generation console follow-up. Here's a question for the thread: how could a super-sneaky IP like this one make use of Xbox One's vaunted Kinect surveillance functions? Presumably, you'll spend an awful lot of time hiding behind the sofa. "Sam Fisher and Splinter Cell is a big and very important franchise for Ubisoft, and yes they do support the franchise," Blacklist art director Scott Lee told ArabicGamers at a recent preview event. "Obviously we're working very hard on current-gen systems and we're super excited that we're going to be across all platforms.

"For next-gen there are a lot of plans in the works, obviously we can't talk about that at the moment but I definitely look forward to seeing Sam in new adventures, bigger and better as we go along. Sam will be back."
You may wish to revisit our (dare we say) fascinating interview with Ubisoft Toronto boss Jade Raymond from last August, which contains the following snippets on the subject of how developers need to make use of new "Natural User Interface" features (such as Kinect) next generation.
I think we saw some great changes with the Wii and a whole bunch of people playing games that hadn't previously, and I think we saw another step with Kinect," Raymond told us.
"As more of a hardcore gamer I want to see that sort of stuff integrated into hardcore games in a way that makes them better, because as fun as they are, I don't really play exercise games - I can't picture myself doing that. I'd love to be able to lean and look round the corner and just integrate more natural motions. The technology for those things isn't quite there, but I hope it will be soon."
Microsoft aired a Kinect tech demo during our exclusive pre-reveal look at Xbox One, which does indeed let players lean to peer round corners. Your vision could soon be a reality, Jade.
We've warmed considerably to Blacklist after its slightly bombastic debut - this genuinely appears to be that fabled meeting-of-the-minds between stealth and action, often proffered by anxious producers. In particular, the reborn Spies vs Mercenaries multiplayer is shaping up nicely. Give the trailer a watch.
