Strange occurance. Sold some chips to a mate of a mate (I should know better) for a good price. One of the X3's and 2 of the X2's cant be flashed. (wether he's stuffed something up and not told me I dont know). But heres what I know for sure.

a) Trying other xecuter chips in the machine he used they work fine, and can be reflashed.
b) Flashbios works on the chips (bank 2 on the x2's and recovery on the X3)
c) Trying these chips in other Xbox's give the same results

I havnt done anything else to them at this stage.

Ive been checking htem myself, when flashbios boots up it detects the chip id as FF FF, regardless of what way you switch the write protect switch, is there anyway the chip could have been damaged during the install or the flash process?

When I say flashbios works, as in it runs, but when you go to flash it says unknown chip ID , no matter what way you switch any of the swithces, have tried different switches and different cables.

Sounds like it could be an install problem.

If one of the LADs is bridging then it could be misreading the data line itself.

Check all four LAD points and make sure they're all soldered correctly.

These chips dont flash regardless of what console they are in (have tried 5 different consoles, 1.6, 1.6b, 1.0 and 2 1.4's) Other chips(other x2's and x3's as well as alladins) work and flash fine in these consoles, but this particular handful of chips wont.

Judging by what you've tested, it looks like these other chips have failed (obvious I know!).

All X3s are extensively tested before being shipped, so maybe during a bad install something's gone wrong.

Either way, they're faulty! Just a thought - what if you try and hotswap it?
