Unable to read HDD first sector

I recently got an X3 and installed it in my v1.1 Xbox. When I first started up the Xbox after installing the X3 everything worked great. Booting with X3 enabled took me to the Flashbios 3.0.1 screen and booting with it off got me to the MS dashboard.

I'm very paranoid so I wanted to make sure the Xbox would still play games fine from the MS Dash. I started with X3 off, reset the time, and loaded up Project Gotham 2. Worked great.

Next task was to flash the X3. I turned off the Xbox and restarted with X3 enabled. Right away I noticed something wrong with the eject LED. It was flashing AMBER before it went Green. When the Flashbios screen loads it now says "Unable to read HDD first sector getting partition table" and garbled in with the name of the HD is something like "Can't get Password."

Now when I try to boot to the MS Dash with X3 disabled I get a RED eject LED and no TV signal or sound. I've double and tripple checked the solder points and the X3 seems to be working fine. I was even able to flash it with X3 1957 through the HTTP interface.

It is the stock HD and it has all my saved games on it.
I don't want to lose the default Dash because of Xbox Live.
Can anyone help me out here?

I've been reading forums for 2 days now with no luck.

If you need pictures I can get some and post them later.

Hey, I can't really help you with your problem, my Xbox still FRAGs, but you should go ahead and post pics so someone else can help you.

Sorry I haven't posted any pics but my camera batteries were dead last night. I'm gonna take some hopefully today.

Here is an update.

Last night I completely removed all the solder from the pinheader and removed it. Then I took some solder braid and removed any left over solder to make sure nothing was being bridged. I completely removed all other wires for the mod and reset the xbox to stock condition. Turned it on and all it will do is blink a red eject LED.

I guess that means that somehow (though I can't for the life of me figure out how) I erased the xbox tsop.

As for the HD. After soldering the pinheader back in for the 4th time. I booted with the X3 enabled with no aparent change in performance. I flashed the bios with X3 1957 then booted with Slayers disk. From here I unlocked the stock HD, powered down and removed it, hooked it to my computer and tried to read it using FATXplorer which tells me it can't see the drive. In fact the drive can not be recognized and installed properly in windows. Any other drive that I format with Slayers disk can be seen perfectly in FATXplorer.

I guess that means that at the same time I destroyed the TSOP I also destroyed the stock HD. This has not been my week.

After this I decided to just get the box running again so I could play games but for some reason the X3 1957 bios is password protected. Its the first time I've ever used it and never set a password. I've read the forums and found that you can use the default.xbe file to reset the bios but first you have to flash a second bios, boot from a dashboard, FTP into the box, and run the default.xbe file. Sounds great but unfortunately I can't get any other bios to flash properly. Every other one I've tried just Frags with green/red blinking eject LED. God I hate this crap.

What BIOS's work with X3?? I've tried numerous versions of EvoX and X2. None worked. I tried X3 1959 with same password problem.

If anyone has any idea's how I can get past some of these problems I'd absolutely love to hear them. Also I'm still looking for a way to get the data off the stock HD. Any suggestions??

Got past the Password problem in the X3 bios by creating a Evox boot disk with Quix, ftping the eraser file to the Xbox and running it with BXplorer.

Box still frags, red flashing eject LED, when X3 is disabled. But everything else seems to work fine now.

to use the lite on youd need the 0800 firmware and xbox backup creator but not sure if this'd work for already ripped games. i dont think talking about ripping rips is allowed on here so i wont say anymore mate. have you not got the original iso on your hard drive? if you had this you could inject the ss v2 using abgx.
