Hi there,

Tonight I started doing the RGH and I stumbled upon a problem.

The problem I have is; once I try to read the nand with nandpro using the following command:
Quote:
nandpro usb: -r16 nanddump.bin
I get:
Quote:
NandPro v3.0a by Tiros

Looking for usb interface device
Can not continue
Soldering went perfect, but once I tried to read the nand with nandpro v3.0 I started getting problems.

post some hires pic of your soldering, maybe someone then can see where the problem is

You might even want to try to unplug the programmer from the QSB (if you have one) and see if you get the exact message. nandpro should at least find the device and your message indicates that it's not. If it doesn't find it when unplugged then you either have a power problem as stated above or you don't have the drivers loaded right.

if nandpro can't find the nand-x it would have said:

NandPro v3.0a by Tiros

Looking for usb interface device
No device found

the "Can not continue" part is because the nand does not respond correctly or not at all.

oh and by the way, if it is your soldering the most common point to F'up is STBY_CLK. there is no need to soldere this to read your nand, you should always solder the minimun required until you get clean nand readings! check with multimeter if STBY_CLK is grounded!

That's strange. I just tested this and I get the exact same message as the user without the usb device plug in and run nandpro. With it plug in and no connection to a nand I get:

Looking for usb interface device
could not detect a flash controller
can not continue

maybe it's just me but I have seen this before on my own stuff

edit: my mistake, I do get a no device found but I don't get why he's not getting a secondary message as in no flash controller found. Maybe the user let part of the message out or maybe an unknown error in nandpro.......?

Are you using a nand-x to read it? Or another device? You might have trouble using 3.0a if its not a nand-x, use 2.x failing that post pics of your soldering.

Wouldn't nandpro give an incompatible arm error if this was the case?

you know the coolrunner is not needed to read nand, and whats al that wite crap you got there?

and why did you use that ground point? you should be using the A/V port..

j2b1-5 and j2b1-6 looks burned!

how about STBY_CLK that's the main concern!

i would say , def not perfect!

what!? j2b1-5 -> gnd? man those pics are confusing:p

j2b1-5 should go to the nand-x, that's a 3volt line! doing like this should make your power brick go red! right?

and def give you problems reading nand!
