I have an XBOX revision 1.0 or 1.1 and since installing the X3 I have not been able to read most DVD formats. This is even with DVD's provided to me by other mates that have also installed the X3 and have the same XBOX. I also have one other mate with the same condition and was wondering if anyone knows if there are particuler DVD drive models that may have this issue, or if the setup may be the issue?

hey

I kinda have the same problem with mine... I made a backup of halo 2... copied to xbox then to my PC, then made it into a ISO, then burned as a image on a low speed. When I put it in, it says, disc may be damaged or dirty. in other words, it cant read my dvd format. I burned the ISO with Nero 6.3.1 on to a DVD-R...
does it matter what kind of disc I have to burn it as?
can someone help with this?

mabey tell me what works for you

Thanks

The confusing part of my issue with the DVD's is that the same disks work on other friends xbox's but not mine. I was thinking that it may be the model but we have elimiated this possibility as well.... it does work with originals though and one type of backup dvd so the player is working just not playing the game to the extent I would like.

Can anyone tell me what kind of dvd's should we use? I have the same problem. I've always been able to watch some (and just a few) burnt movies on DVD+RW. I thought that with the chip installed, I would be able to play all my burnt movies like a dream but no, this is far from true even though I've read advirtised (2Xecuter 2.6): "Reads cheap unbranded media". I already know that you should use DVD's with Ritek g4 or g5 dye but shoul I use - or +, that's my question. I've been reading forums from diferent websites and no one has asked this simple and yet essential question! And no one mentions what kind is best. Incredible, since there are both kinds in the market!
Sorry if I sound a bit pissed off but it's not against anyone in particular. It's just that on the websites the chip installation comes out as a very easy to do and after you've done it you become Alice in wonderland, etc and I found all this experience very distressfull. I've spent way more £ that I was thinking and now the chip is ok, the network is done (I think) but I still don't know what to do to make backup copies of my games...Any help with this? You can send private message.
Thanks!

PS3 vs. XBox 360 Comparison

I always used to believe xbox 360 was better than the ps3 since most people i knew bought xbox 360
but as i researched a bit ,i found out the following facts

although the ps3 didn't have many titles in the beginningg but now it has almost equivalentt to an xbox 360

ps3 always had better raw power and in the future advance gaming would not be possible in a xbox 360 in comparison to a ps3

ps3 has online gaming free and the community is also getting better

ps3 has very less problems

ps3 is less noisier than an xbox 360

ps3 has a blue ray

ps3 has more comfortable controller and also keyboards or something like that can be attached to a ps3

we can install windows on ps3 ,i don't know if its legal or not

although xbox 360 has great exclusives like halo 3 and gears of war 2 but so does ps3

but an xbox 360 has better Accessories if u r willing to buy them

an xbox 360 at the moment has better online community than a ps3

microsoft have better marketing than sony although this point is irrelevant

xbox 360 is cheap

do u agree and which is a better buy?

Re: PS3 vs. XBox 360 Comparison

I've also been rethinking my evaluation of the two. Overall I think the PS3 is a better experience. I have a lot more games for my 360, but I find myself playing the PS3 a lot more. Maybe it's just me, but it even seems like the people are a little nicer when playing online on the PS3. Maybe there's more angry people on Xbox Live because they paid so damn much for something that should be free...LOL!!! Plus, the 360 has so many problems. Even though I've successfully (knock on wood) fixed my RROD, I still get tense and cringe every time I hear a noise coming from my Xbox. I also find myself clock watching so I don't play it "too long" in case something else goes wrong. When I'm on the PS3, I just play as long as I want, then my kids come in and play. So it stays on for HOURS. The PS3 slim creaks and crackles when it heats up too (probably the cheap plastic), but it does not overheat which is great. My 360 is banned now, but before it was, I was always worried about getting banned. Every time I signed into Live, I was crossing my fingers hoping this wasn't the day I got caught. Ok I know you run the risk when you mod a console, but still, it's something you're tense about. Which also makes your gaming experience on edge with the 360. I have a modded Wii, but when you get an update for that, it even gives you a warning that if you modified your console, it could be disabled after the update. And if they do disable it, you just wait for the "fix", then go right back on afterwards. Micro$oft wants to be harda**es (I censored myself) about it. You get one chance and one chance only! I could understand if they were the only ones out there, but there are other choices...ok so maybe one other choice since the Wii isn't really in the same league as the 360 and PS3. Well this was just my opinion. Thanks ashtonfarell for the outlet (although that probably wasn't your intention...lol  ).

Re: PS3 vs. XBox 360 Comparison

PS3 doesnt feel or look cheap is what I like. Never had a problem with mine. I have went through 2 xbox 360s cus the RROD and couldnt get it fixed but I still like them both about the same thanks to the 360 being able to be modded:) I used to hate the xbox controllers but am used to them now and they feel great. I hate how you can't save files (like Xvid files) to the harddrive for the 360.

Re: PS3 vs. XBox 360 Comparison

I like them both for different reasons. i don't like the witch console is better debate. each console has positives and negatives. I own a ps3, psp wii, xbox360, nintendo ds and game on my dell xps m1530.

Re: PS3 vs. XBox 360 Comparison

I own both and personally prefer the PS3 . I fitted a 500gb hdd with no issues for the same price as microsoft's 60gb hdd! It looks better, it's whisper quiet, you can leave it on knowing it won't over heat and looks much better. The dash board is better than xbox's and appeals to the more mature market as there are no annoying screaming american kids online like there always seems to be on xbox live (no disprect to Americans intended!). Also comes with built in wifi and bluetooth and a faster ethernet connection than the xbox.

I do also like my xbox as it's cheap (if it ever red rings I'll just buy another arcade), controllers are better and I can use backed up games. Nether the less for some strange reason I really do dread the day if back up games come avaible for the PS3 !!!

Re: PS3 vs. XBox 360 Comparison

Both have their advantages and their disadvantages but I owned both, and theyre both dope. I loved how my 360 was modded and that I could download ANY game I wanted, but what I didn't like about it was its failure rate, wat edged me towards the PS3 was the fact that my mates all started getting PS3's and also with the new slim PS3's, they have a good, low failure rate, unlike the 360. Graphics on both are sick, can't really complain with either console, but if I had to choose, i'd say I had more fun with the PS rather then the 360. But at the end of the day it's just a matter of preference...

somewhere WITH a X3
Re: PS3 vs. XBox 360 Comparison

I dont actually own a 360 yet (trying to fix one my friend will sell to me for $100 if I can fix it, it's an Elite) but I do have a PS3.

I've had absolutely no issues with my Ps3 what so ever. I like that it has wifi and bluetooth built in. people argue that the PS3 controllers suck and get hand cramps. I don't think they suck, but I do think the 360 controllers fit more comfortably in my hand. I don't get any sort of cramps or discomfort in my hands while playing ps3 for long periods of time though so I don't see how people can get that.

Blu ray is a plus but I don't really rent\buy movies so I don't really care about that.
Both consoles have good exclusives, and sometimes the same game performs or looks better on one console over the other, and some games you want to have a really good online community, which are 3 reasons why I want to have both consoles. Assassin's Creed 2 is a good example as I have seen a lot of people complaining about the quality and performance of it on PS3, same with Fallout 3 (lots of bugs apparently).

But as others said, both consoles have positives and negatives. If I fix this Elite and it gets banned well then I'll just find another cheap, hard drive-less used 360 from local used websites for like $100. Thats one good thing about the 360 at least.

I have a Wii too but it's been sitting on the shelf for over 2 years now lol. I used it to play Twilight Princess, Mario Galaxy, and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and was basically done with it. I modded it too when I first got it, but my mod chip is really old and there's no longer any support for it and I'm afraid it will get bricked if I go and do a software update on it haha.

I have a DS Lite as well (also have a chip to play backup games) that I also never play. Been sitting in the draw of my TV unit for quite some time.

I never want to sell my gaming consoles in case a really good game comes out that I want so I just keep them even though I never play them just in case that happens :)
