I have a Lite-On 83850c v1 flashed with LT 1.1. I would like to unflash to OFW. I do not have any hardware to do so. I currently have the first Kinect dashboard released for the 360. Is there any way to unflash without hardware, can I upgrade to latest dashboard and will it go back to factory? I need to do it but I do not feel like throwing $100 dollars down to flash to factory.

Thanks,
Gagahah

You could do as you said but cause a flag and potentially a ban...
Piece of advise I doubt it you will get any advise from here as this is a TX product support forum for the Xbox 360.

buy the required equipment and flash to stock possiblily saving u a new console.

If you update to 13146 or 13599 Dashboard, you will delete your CFW and it will be stock (OFW), because it will rewrite firmware to newer version. It depends on type of drive.

But updating to 13146 or 13599 you will get flag (mostly everybody say it).

The best way is flashing to stock with some Xecuter hardware.

anything about non slim.

I have Lite-On DG16D2S 83850c v1.

I understand if I update this drive changes to Lite-On 0225.

So if I update no need to flash to stock, its already safe?

What c4eva said only applies to Slim drives, not yours. You may or may not get a flag. The only way to know for sure would be to update, and then dump your Nand firmware, which requires additional tools to buy, and some soldering.

You would also need to make sure it hasn't been on Live after you updated. If there were any flags, you would be able to remove them.

That is merely all that would be required to stay safe if you update without flashing to stock first.

Or, you can do what everyone else has suggested.
