When ever I start flashing the X3 over http, it says "image file received by http, 1044876394 (some number) bytes. Unknown flash! Halting." And then it just quits. Does anybody know how to fix this? All the bank switches are correct. The same chip has flashed correctly before, but now i cant get anything reflashed on it. Please help if you know why it would be saying this. THANKS!

I'm actually having the same trouble... I am trying to flash my xbox for the first time on bank 1234... via HTTP... and i'm getting the exact same error.. i'm running a X3 on a V1.6 Xbox.. and have tried flashing it via HTTP with multiple bios for my board.. the newest first and then older ones.. if you can help me with this I would greatly appreciate it... also whenever I try to load the alternate bios that it says on the HTTP loading page.. my xbox won't load up on the TV screen.. any help would be appreciated as well

It means the bios is in protect mode. Use the switch on the x3 board to unlock.

I have flashed it with the switch both ways, and it still comes up with the same message. Did it work for you now that you switched the switch, sacraficewhat? Any other suggestions?

I just realized that my pin 15 is half the size of the other pins. This isn't normal, correct? Perhaps its not reading the 15th pin b/c everytime I even put in the power cord, the xbox turns itself on, boots to the flashbios screen, and gives that same message. Also, the DVD Drive always pops out, and wont go back in, and I cant turn the system off with the power button. Do you think this is all becuase pin 15 is half the size and not reading. Wouldn't there still be a metal-to-metal contact?

I have tried flashing it a million times on every setting, but it doesn't work. Flash protect is off on both the X3 chip and External Switch Panel. I dont know why it wont recognize the bios file. Again the message is "Got BIOS image over http, 1048576 bytes Unknown flash! Halting" Pls help anybody if you know why it still gives this message when the flash protect is off.

Oh, and my xbox automatically launches to the flashbios screen. I can't get to the regular dashboard. When i power on the xbox, it just goes straight to the blue flashbios screen and everytime i flash it, it gives me that message.

Also, I am using FlashBIOS 3.0.1, should I be using FlashBIOS 3.0.3 and how do I get the new FlashBIOS on my chip?

Chilldawg, flashbios 3.0.1 or 3.0.3 doesn't matter. One is as good as the other. The only reason there is more than one is that the latest v1.6B xbox can't read 3.0.1

If you take the chip out will xbox boot to standard dashboard? I'm unsure of the reason for your chip not flashing, but if you work out the problem you have with the mobo, it may help you out.

Chilldawg: I'm having the exact problem that you are and the exact same outcome everytime I try to flash my bios.. also when I power up it goes directly to flash bios.. I thought that was normal though? I can still use my xbox though normally if I hold my power button for over a second.. it bypasses the modchip.. Anybody have any advice for us?

Yes, My pins are all perfect. Everything is perfect and running normal, except that it won't let me flash it, even when both flash protects are off.

Unplug the switch panel from the chip and try flashing. I could be pinched wire or bad switch panel.

It will default to bank 1234 (1mb)

you also have to name it bios.bin. The bios file must be exactly 1024K. Thats why your getting the message. You downloaded the file, used winrar to unzip. look for the 1024k bin file.

Yeah, I just got home and checked mine, its the right size. I had the same problem. It turned out to be the screening on the x3 was wrong. Try and throw the switch regardless of what the board says the led should read.

Okay I have repeatedly attempted to flash my X3ce Modchip and i'm continueing to get the same error on every attempt.. if somebody can advise me on what to do with this halting issue.. please let me know.. i've followed the instructions to a T... and had a "2m" qualified US NAVY electronics technicion overlook all my work with a microscope.. and everything is "PERFECT" so I can't figure out why it won't flash...
