unknown flash! halting

USA Xbox, 1.6v, X3, bios 1957
Ok after looking for the bios and tryied to flashed by:
http and got message unknown flash! halting
also by FTP and receive the same message
I tried to move all the little switches like the tutorial says
Bank 1234: on on off off and also
bank 5678: off on off off and also by taking out the swith panel
and got the same message. Any idea on what I am doing wrong?

Please help two weeks and one xbox burned and still not enjoying my chip!!

this means flash is protected or possible faulty WRITE bit on the flash rom

i find it amazing youve had this for 2 weeks and you havent contacted your reseller to send the chip back for testing / replacement.

cant help you then

that would only ever happen from a poor install im afraid - i doubt a reseller would take a chip back if you physically damaged it yourself

I get that error also: "Unknown Flash Halting".
I installed the X3 chip and all power-up modes worked. I got the FlashBios screen. I used the HTTP method of flashing the bios with X3 1943. Switches on front were on on off off off. Flash protect switch is off on the internal chip(flash protection disabled). A yellow bar went across the TV and then a green bar got about 25% and froze. I waited 5 minutes and powered off the Xbox. I get the FRAG now. I can start the Xbox with chip disabled fine still and can boot in backup mode. Everytime I try to flash it, it either does nothing on the TV screen or gives me the error(unknown flash halting). I've tried the CD flash and it can't read the disc. And the HTTP way it shows me the IP address of the Xbox, but goes no further. I can connect to the Xbox through HTTP and when I upload a bios it says page cannot be displayed on the web browser and the Xbox does nothing when I try to upload. I've tried uploading FlashBios 3.0.1, 1943, 1957, and 1957 repack. None of them will upload. I would appreciate any help.


Update:

I was successful in uploading the evoxm8 and X2 4983. But it still FRAGs when I try to start it up on that bank that I put it on. What I did was have only switch 2 on and tried each evoxm8 and X2 bios. Why would those 2 bios upload and not the bigger ones?

I finally got a 1MB bios on it. I had the switches off on off off off. I put X3 1957 on it using the HTTP method. I'm guessing that's banks 5678. I then ftp'd and installed EvolutionX. But I still don't understand why I can't put a 1 MB bios on banks 1234. Where is a diagram or picture that shows the positions of the front panel switches. I don't understand how they work. I looked at the unofficial noob's guide, but it only explains the banks.

I was also sccesful after two weeks but I imstalled 1957 with a dvdrw
http and ftp didnt work for me because I was getting the unknown flash halting message. also to every body trying to flash and are having something similar like me check like six times the switch in the chip itself that i think in my x3 is damage cause after trying to flashed like 10 times I was loosing my mind , and one step closer to break it with a hammer , but that last try I moved the switch like 20 times on and off finally put it like the tutorials says (every time was like that) and removed the front panel switch and bam!!! it got flashed. Now I am dealing with choosing a dashboard and no clue wich is better from Avalaunch, Evolution X or UnleachX. Give Me advise on this and dont give up.

I am now having this exact problem, and yes I have check to make sure that the write protection is off on the mod and the switch i'v done this 2 dozen times, both from CD and trying to flash via http and I still end up with the same error message. what else can I check for any help would be help full. this is a xbox 1.6

On another note it apears that my switch is only displaying the purple LED.
am I doing something wrong.

Did you try what I did? Just have the switches at off on off off off. After I finally got a bios on it, I'm afraid to put a new one on it. So I guess I'll never update my bios.

Quick Question

Hey Guys, I am one of those people whos' 360 got banned, no biggie, planning to get another and sell my banned one.

I just had a quick question, my banned 360 and my other 360 both have first gen Lite-On Drives with FW 1.51. I just burned CODMW2 and of course my 360 thinks its a DVD. I heard that there was a ISO image that I can use to play my new games. I check the Xbin server and I couldn't find it.

Can anyone tell me where I can download that iso please. Thank you for your help.
