Now I know what you are thinking - I've seen this all before etc.... but I geniunely do have a question about this which I haven't found an answer for despite 8+ hours of investigation.

Right - so I have the LO 0225 with the Unlocked PCB flashed with lt+2.0. I am using backups burnt with a LT Max burner on Verbs.

I read the firmware from the old PCB and created the LT+2.0 and wrote that to the new PCB then locked the SPI and set the Write Protect switch to WP#0 and then shoved the drive in the console and powered it up. Slap in a backup and it boots. Re-assemble console. Boot again and I get a unrecognised disc. Disassemble console reflash. slap drive in. boot. Disc reads and plays. turn off reassemble console. Boot. Unrecognised disc.

Somewhere I saw that you have to adjust the POTS (which I could do as I have the Mulitmeter) but it seems to me like the drive is being overwritten at some point during boot. Would this be the case?

The weird thing is that the drive reads the disc in the first instance. It's only once it gets a chance to have a long enough rest does it stop reading.

Is it really going to be a laser issue, I mean I could understand it based on the fact that the boards are different and the current going through it will have changed so power to the laser is different.

I will try to post a video later when I get in.

Right - after getting a retail - Brand new as well, as I purchased it on the way home. It's saying Play DVD.

So it must be one for POT adjustment.

If its saying "play dvd" on both retail & backups, its either wrong key or bad flash.

Are you sure its the right key ? if so reflash it with the correct fw and try again

dale;)

EDIT: what does it say on the drive cover 0225 or 9504 ? maybe try flashing the drive with 0225u fw & not 0225 fw

On the cover is 0225. I have just tried 0225U - no dice. Now am even more screwed than before.

Am going to go back to stock to see if the drive reads the retail disc. just a bit confused as to why the drive would need a POT adjustment if all that's changed is the board.

take it back to stock and see if it reads your retail disc, if it does then its the right key, if it dont & still says "play dvd" then its the wrong key

Right this is the wierdest sh*t I have ever come across. I thought about it and dug the old board out and read the key again to make DOUBLE SURE I had the right key and despite the two keys that I read from this board being the same I wrote it back assembled the box and it's up......

Weird

Maybe I didn't read the key properly in the first place????
