I am just about to attempt to unlock my drive which now has 0272 firmware, using Sputnik probe, do you need to unsolder the pcb wires and remove it completely or can you just remove the three ribbons and turn it over to make the cut. Thanks.

Either / or. I just release the three ribbons and flip it over - put a piece of card between the PCB and the drive though, as there's metallic contacts which could short.

OK cheers, I assume you just connect to usbpro and pc without reconnecting ribbons, Ive also bought a Sputnik probe addon which saves resoldering the cut but I'm not quite sure how that works is there any link to instructions for this, Thanks.

Thanks for info, I've decided to resolder, thing is I've run up against a problem, Ive cut the trace and connected the drive through usbpro and everything is showing up correctly in jungleflasher, I didnt' have to extract the key as I had it from the previous flash, the key is shown as verified in MTK Flash 32 but when I click the Intro /Device id I get "sending vendor intro to port 0x0000" status 051, the area below which should read something like :
Drive is slim Liteon
Key found in Keydb at record
Key is :
This doesn't appear, any help would be appreciated, Cheers

you are not power cycling,intro device id,a message will a appear.click yes when the dots start,turn off the power to the drive then turn it back on in a quick succession

Thanks I used the on/off switch and that worked fine, the probe doesnt seem to unlock I think I need to cut the trace a bit deeper

All done ,thanks for all the advice, one last thing is it essential to resolder the cut, this machine does not go online.Cheers

Help! new problem, after successful unlock and flash I tried the drive with two seperate games before reassembling xbox, both loaded and worked perfectly, I then reassembled the machine and gave it a try, now I'm
getting the "open tray" error it wont load anything, could this be anything to do with the flashing or is this a purely mechanical fault. Cheers.

if the games worked fine before u put the console back together but dont afterwards then i would say the flash is fine

Thanks, I've just removed pcb to check everything and retried it, and its working again, must be some sort of connection problem I wont know until I reassemble. Cheers
