HITACHI 79 Unlocking Hitachi GDR-3120L 79L without CD

Hi, i have a hitachi gdr-3120L 79L that cant read CD's, so im trying to dump the drive key so i can use another drive instead.I have tried taking the motherboard out and trying it in another shell, but it still cant open the tray or read CD's.The motherboard still works when i link it up to the computer, so im wondering if the drive can be unlocked with a Probe or any other method.

If it can't read cds why flash it? That means it can't read games. Open it up and replace the laser then all should be right

this help at times... if you have the ck3i click on mode B on the ck3i (after you click on send to mode B tap.. ) play with it till you see hitachi drive found then just click dump firmware you should able to have it working.. without using c.d works for me more then once,

Just replace the laser or tweak the POT so it reads.
