Unmodded & Fragging

A friend brought his v1.0 xbox to me, it's unmodded and when I boot it will reboot 3 times and then frag with a black screen. it's never been opened yet so I'm sure that it's not a broken trace. I appreaciate any help, thanks!

Any error numbers? Maybe the Xbox was dropped.

Unfortunately there's no error # because I'm only getting a black screen with no sound, I tried to swap PSU from another working v1.0 box but still the same thing. One more thing is the dvd drive is not ejecting and when I tried the dvd drive on another box it's working. You're probably right Fantmx, maybe it was dropped. Do you think modding it will help? Probably not! Anyways, thanks for the response...I might as well browse for a replacement mobo.

Before you do that look over the motherboard to see if you can find any signs of damage. Check the video encoder area as well as the connection itself. Is it flashing red and green or just red, or orange?

prolly original owner contacted M$ regarding this, they told him it was out of warranty but fixable for an amount that cost more than a new Xbox!

it is flashing red & green, but when I remove the A/V cable it's orange. I'll try to look for a possible damage or burnt components. BTW, if it's a video encoder problem shouldn't be I'm getting an audio at least? I tried to look for a replacement mobo and it looks like buying a new xbox is more practical. Thanks guys!
