Personally I don't find any advantage in not burning fuses and the procedure, while not hard, its tedious.
I am fairly inexperienced to the scene, but I have been reading a lot before finally installing SX OS 2.5.3 and I have been really happy so far playing the backups I have. However, I am a little bit concerned about newest games since I will most likely be asked for an update. I have read that if burned fuses doesn't match the firmware version there will be problems (too many won't bot, less fuses it will burn to match the expected ones).
Stuff to consider:
- My OFW is currently on 6.1.0
- I don't play online.
- I don't mind to be banned.
- I disabled connection to Nintendo Servers changing DNS settings, to avoid updates.
- Have a copy of nand and bis keys.
- I don't mind burning fuses, as I have no (and never had) interest in cold boot exploit to avoid jig (my Switch had 3.0.0 when bought).
- Not interested in emuNand.
- I want to play latest games with minimum risk evolved of bricking my Switch because messing up when updating.
- Didn't install Auto RCM, don't feel like doing it.
- I have another Switch (it's actually my wife's Switch) to play physical games, not exploitable.
- Wife, sometimes, wants to play on my Switch because I have some backups she doesn't have (not saying she could have them, but she doesn't have the games).
Questions:
- What is the best way to update? I am afraid that if I use ChoiDujourNX fuses won't be burnt and I could run into problems.
- Probably a stupid question: updating with ChoiDujourNX will update sysnand? I would guess it does since I don't have emunand installed, but I want to be sure, maybe it only updates CFW but not OFW and I don't want that, I want them to be the same.
- If I update using a cartridge while running OFW, will CFW run in the OFW version that I just updated to?
- If I update using a .XCI game (obviously running CFW) will it burn fuses? next time I run OFW is it going to be in updated version from .XCI? may I experience a problem?
- Whenever I launch a .XCI game, I kept being asked twice for a system update, what would happen if I accidentally select update? so far I have the option to start software without update, and this wouldn't be a problem if it wasn't for my wife using my Switch, she isn't as careful as I am.
