Unreadable disks...

Ive created backups of my original games yet they dont seem to be playing on my console. I took them round my mates to try on his v78 hitachi and they work perfectly, the same with another mates xbox that has the samsung drive. mines the v59 and another mates is the v47 which both have the same firmware. Im just wondering if its the firmware thats making these disk unable to play? Are the hitachi flashed like the firmware a on samsung? as in they only read good quaility media at x12 speed? where as my mates are probably running on x4 speed and able to read naff media?

Is the "Maximus-Garyopa_XTRM-HITACHI_v2_3_Stealth_Rev2" the only firmware for the v40 - v50 drives?

Not the only firmware, but it is the most recent firmware with the most compatibility. I use Verbatim DVD+R DL, and two LiteOn burners, both bitset to DVD-ROM , burned at 2.4x using the latest ImgBurn. My backups play on every drive I have ever flashed.

Oh i wanted to ask u textbook i hav a liteon SHW-160P6S
i also have the lastest firmware PSOB for it
whn i use IMGburn and i set the booktype and i go to brun it say volume connot be locked
so i used a liteon tool to set the booktype and it set the booktype correctly and i go backto IMGBURN to burn the disc with out setting the booktype in IMGBURN
IMGBURN still gave me error "" volume connot be locked"""
