Update dash prior to jtag?

Hello everyone. I am new to the board and jtagging and I would appreciate some advice. While I did some research on this topic, I am still unsure so I thought I would ask here. First, I am working with the following:

• Xenon board dash 5766 / bk:1888
• nand-x
• coolshrimps jtag tool v3.50

My question is do I need to update to 7371 prior to reading the nand and installing my jtag wiring? If I am correct the jtag tool v3.50 will install freeboot 13599 but it is based on 7371. Things seem to change overnight and not all sites are reliable so some help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, it is recommended to update your Xbox360 to 7371 before you start the whole Jtagging process.

I always update to 7371 prior to dumping the nand an jtagging it, given that the hacked kernels are based on that version. I don't know if its a must, but all boxes I've done so far worked perfectly stable afterwards, so I would suggest ro gut for it.

I always make 4 dumps of whatever is currently on the unit then update to 7371 then make 4 more dumps of the 7371. This way you can always downgrade it to pre-nxe if you wanted to.
