Hi Guys

I am now at a loss and need some help, I have googled myself blue in the face and cannot get this updating to work. See the details below:

Board: XENON
Nand: Freeboot 9199 Nand (no original)
CB: 1921
XELLOUS is Flashed
Intended update: 12625 dash

This xbox has the 9199 dash installed with a FreeBOOT Nand. When I use JTAG Tool or BestPig created NANDs then the XBOX gives an E71 error. The xbox works fine again when I flash back to the 9199 Nand which was on it.

I tried injecting KVs manually into clean donor NANDS but same result. I disconnect all USB and HDD devices when switching on also.

Please help guys,

Thanks

You're saying that you have tried creating a freeBOOT 12625 image in Jtag Tool using your dumped 9199 freeBOOT image, correct? And it didn't work?

Correct, when I'm done flashing the 12625 Nand to the xbox, it starts to boot and I can see about 2 seconds of the new 126## animated dash logo then it goes scrambled and the E71 error shows on the screen.

Many posts I've come across say that it is related to either incorrect KV injection or remapping. There were 3 reading errors "250" which should be normal and were remapped by XELLOUS, this process worked on other JTAGs I've done. I have manually remapped as well but no luck.

The 9199 image you used, was it the one you created first time or did you dump it from the console? Also I take it you used your CPU key when compiling the 12625 image?

The one I currently have was dumped using Flash360, it is not the original NAND. Yes, I used the CPU Key which I got using XELL.

I do however get the below message when it completes the Create FB button activity in JTAG Tool:

*****WARNING: crl data appears to be crypted or damaged"

Try re-dumping the 9199 dash ... Also what happened to the original NAND dump? Who ever sold you the console can't they supply you with it?

I managed to get the Original NAND, the owner had the original backed up on a cd, but it still does the same thing. E71 error while logo comes up. I follow the same process I followed for 5 other JTAGs I've done. This one has me by the nuts.

The only way I can get it working again is to flash back the 9199 dash using XELLOUS.

See attached extract from Easy Freeboot 5.10 and see below extract from JTAG Tool v3.00:

---------------------------------------------------------------
fbBuild v0.20
---------------------------------------------------------------
FreeBOOT.bin built, info:
---------------------------------------------------------------
console : xenon
NAND size: 16MiB
CPU Key : ########################
1BL Key : ########################
---------------------------------------------------------------
fbBuild Finished. Have a nice day.
---------------------------------------------------------------

press <enter> to quit...

How about you write the original image back, update the console to 7371, dump the NAND again, and use this new dumped image to make a freeboot image and see if it works.

Okay, I received my NAND-X today and decided to do the whole 7371 dash update which worked fine. I then dumped the new nand which went fine as well. I ran the nand through FreeBOOT toolbox and wrote the freeBOOT nand 12625 dash to the xbox but I still get the E71 error upon the bootup.

I GOT IT WORKING..... definately E71 related to bad blocks. I followed this URL to the T and it worked like a bomb

http://dznmods.net/showthread.php?6805-How-to-Remap-Unmap-your-NAND-image-from-bad-blocks

My problem is that all my previous JTAGs had no bad blocks at all so I never worried about bad blocks. I also thought that XELLOUS remapped bad blocks which it does but there's more to it before XELLOUS takes action of remapping.

Thanks to all who tried to help. Much appreciated
