update to bios not taking

Hi,

Have a 1.1 xbox, 2.6ce that was soldered in.

Boots ok to cromwell bios.

Tried updating flash with cd, and http.

4977 version.

Appears to work on screen, but after completed get frag on restart.
(boot starts with lights and disk, all light/disks off. lights/disk on, lights com on in frag mode)

if i switch to 2nd flash, boot, switch back to 1st bios comes up with cromwell boot again.

ok. Question 1. Which bios version should i download and try?
2nd question - if i boot xbox and goto http mode should all the bios read as on? or as i get
1234 on on off off
5678 off on off off ?

Download X2 5035 from Xbins. When you extract it there will be two bin files. Use the one that says vOld in the name.

if you plan on using 4977 you need to double it up to flash to a 2.6

dos
copy /b 4977.bin + 4977.bin 4977-512k.bin
then flash the 4977-512k.bin

4977 is old so I suggest you do what jimmy suggested above and flash 5035 vold.

I did pretty much the same thing (except i was a noob and used an old (1.6) version of EvoX. The reason i did this is becuase this is the second time modding the same box, as the last mod i tried i used a crappy chip that ended up breaking, and evox was still on the HDD.) I ended up where it frags on bank 1, and when I power it on with bank 2 it powers up fine but there is no video display. if i trun the chip off, it boots the normal dashboard fine.

First off, there is a difference between Evox and EvolutionX. Evox is the bios, and EvolutionX is the dashboard.

You have a 1.6, and not a 1.6b which is why you see nothing on bank 2. You may be able to get the Xbox to boot to flashbios on bank 2 if you wait for the led to stop flashing, and then hit eject, and keep doing this for a while. Some people have been able to "jump start" the bios using that method.
