Hi. Got a dual nand here. Might be stupid question but can I update stock slim nand to 14699 and leave my second nand on 13604? Will that work?

At the start i have to be honest, i was confused with what you were trying to say. But do you mean you have another NAND chip that you want to swap with the one in the console?
If so, this would probably work if both kernels were the same i.e. if you had both NAND's on 13604 for example.
Everytime you firmware update via xbl it updates everything else i.e. your DVD drive etc.

As long as you write the correct NAND image to your second NAND and keep them both on the same kv i don't see why it wouldn't work tbh.

Good luck anyway if you attempt this!

@diixed I have a cygnos that allows me two have two nands on one console. With the cygnos off I boot to a stock microsoft nand currently on 13604. Switch on the cygnos and I boot to a glitched nand (my coolrunner gets switched on) the glitched nand is 13604 freeboot. Don't know if I update the stock nand whether that has any detrimental effect or stops me booting from my second nand on the cygnos chip. Obviously the updates so new I can't find an anszer on google yet.

Yes it should work, however be aware in future upgrades that the CB might change and should you update the main NAND, you'll need to patch/rebuild your RGH NAND with the change in LDV.

Yes got revision E.

Thanks for the reply Martin.

So I assume no need to mess with the LDV for this update but may need to for future updates is that correct? So the LDV changes only if the CB changes? Does that mean I can have two different dashboard versions (one on the stock another on the cygnos) as long as the cb and therefore LDV don't change?

Hey,
I just want to Dual Glitch my box. I have the Cygnos and Coolrunner here.
Should I update to 14699 before glitching or not?
(I assume I shouldn't, so I can get the hacked dash by using ggbuild, is this right? And then just updating afterwards, as the LDV doesn't change)

I reckon that's the easiest although to be honest it's my first time playing with dual nands. I Glitched and set up everything from 13604 and am updating stock nand now

. Others have a better handle on this than me. I'm bang in the middle of my learning curve right now.

Ok, so I'll try this soon. :D I think I can't update the hacked dash before a ggbuild for 14699 is out right?

No keep the hacked dash on 13604 until updated ggbuild is out in a little while.

I didn't get an ETA just supposing it will be out fairly soon. Sorry meant "a little while" as anything be it weeks or a month or so.

I am assuming that developments for these mods; hacked dashes, homebrew and the like will be sped up now that there are thousands of us for each jtag that used to be in the wild.

Realise now "a little while" could be read as minutes. I ment to not imply a release eta by using that phrase. Not often involved in forums or online discussions and it's a right bugger to realise noone hears inflections of your voice or understnds your mannerisms.

So how did the update go? I have a dual nand with tx- coolrunner/cygnos v2 rev E. I was about to try this but wanted to see how yours went first.

Update went fine on the retail nand. Boots straight up no problemx. For the cygnos I had to dump the new retail nand from the 14699 dash and rebuild my image through multibuilder then it boots straight into 13604. I lost the kinect update and avatars for the moment on te cygnos side.

Bizarre thing is when I put in a retail kinect disc on the glitched dash, to put on the update, it comes up as play dvd. Everything on retail dash is normal. Getting to late to play around too much. I'll get back to it tommorrow

Try booting to RGH with the disc already in the drive...

Awesome!!Mine works too. I updated to 14699 on stock, dumped that nand with cygnos toolbox, open in flash360tool, ldv changed from 9 to 10, changed ldv value in multibuilder, reflashed to cygnos nand. It boots fine. Thanks for confirming that it works before i took the plunge.

Originals work fine. My drive is stock so i cant test a backup right now.

Yeah seems like multibuilder bugged out for me and changed my dvd key. Thought it might be user error but checked the before and after nands in multibuilder and reckon it wasn't me. Can't complain as I was asking it to build a 13604 nand from a 14699 image.

Repatched it when I rebuilt my nand with a banned keyvault, installed update 13604 from usb to the cygnos and voila.

Awsome to see two dashboards on one xbox.

Don't know how this will pan out in the future but loving being able to play with my xbox the way I want and not the way microsoft wants me to play with it.
