Hello all,

Another N00b here! But I have done as you have asked and read as much as I possibly could on everything from flashing to the different dashboards and how each of them works to FlashFXP and I got it to work with the help of tuts.

But the only thing that I have a question about is the banks.....

I'm looking through my Admin folder and see where the different banks are. And from what I have read I need to put my new 3108 bios in the Bios Banks/1024k banks/bank 1+2+3+4 folder. All I see in this folder now is a "Upload to flash" file. I'm not sure what that file is....hmmm! Might you know where is my current Build 1859 bios? (A buddy of mine who is gone now installed my X3 chip with a 160Gb HD. The chip is the soldered kind.)

Through some searching (after making a complete Admin, C:, and E: drive backups on my laptop, I have looked again and found a backup folder on the C: drive. It has a bios.bin, disk.bin, eeprom.bin, hddino.txt, and hddkey.bin in that folder. Is this where my bios is coming from and not the banks? Another question is how I might be able to update to the 3108 bios? Maybe copy that bios (after renaming to bios.bin) to the 1024 folder/1+2+3+4 folder? But how would I make that bios come up instead of the backup one? ....I really appreciate the help and hope to see you more on the boards. -ExtremeGz ;)

The bios you are currently running is not in a folder, it is actually on your Eeprom chip. So... you don't need to delete it or anything. You can transfer your new bios into the folder you mentioned with no worries. As long as you have your Flash enabled it will automatically start flashing your chip with the new bios.

*EDIT* Rename the file you transfer to bios.bin

the admin folder is basically a "fake" folder list that allows you to upload a bios into memory and then the X3 bios takes over and flashes it into the bank.

The "Bios" folder on the C: drive is there as sort of a backup.
If you ever toast your bios on accident you can boot to the backup Bios, and select the hard drive flashing option. The HD flash option REQUIRES the Bios you want to flash to be in "C:/BIOS" Make sure if you ADD the 3108 Bios to the folder that it has a recognizeable name.

Happy modding!
